You're the lucky reader of the 25th edition of the Punknews.org Vinyl File. This column aims to keep you informed with upcoming releases as well as spotlighting interesting releases, your favorite band's own collections and labels with an history of vinyl releases worth talking about. As always, Vinyl File is brought to you by Ben Conoley.

This week Vinyl File runs you through a large number of upcoming releases from the likes of Hot Water Music, Converge, The Lawrence Arms and more. We've also got a swell contest care of Vinyl Collective where you'll have a chance to win $100 in free records.

First things first, let's get to the free swag. Pasted below is an image containing 10 records. Participants should name each of the 10 albums. Since there are a lot of people capable of getting this correct, what will separate the winner(s) will be the people who can correctly name/guess what color of vinyl each of the 10 records are on. Hint: Not all 10 records are on color.

Deathwish Inc has made available additional copies of Converge's 2004 Epitaph debut You Fail Me. The clear red copies are part of the most recent pressing of 2980.

It's time for Hot Water Music fans to get psyched. Their second album of singles and rarities, Til the Wheels Fall Off is now available for pre order over at No Idea Records. Furthermore, reunion show editions will be for sale at the band's upcoming shows that feature limited edition hand screened covers. In other No Idea news, Decline of the Southern gentleman from The Tim Version is also available for pre-order and until they are gone, you can purchase tour edition versions (/200) with screen printed covers.

Revelation Records has repressed some albums that have been out of print for a little while. They include both Texas Is The Reason's debut full-length Do You Know Who You Are? as well as Shai Hulud's 2003 album That Within Blood Ill-Tempered.

If you ordered the "red with black smoke" version of Alkaline Trio's upcoming re-release of Goddamnit, don't be surprised when you open it up and find a red/black inside-out copy. The pressing plant urged Asian Man to to switch colors for quality reasons.

In other really exciting Asian Man news, Mike Park and co. have announced they are re-pressing some classics from the label's catalogue. Included are three albums from The Lawrence Arms' back catalogue. A Guided Tour of Chicago, Ghost Stories and Cocktails And Dreams will all see the vinyl treatment. In addition, Mike Park has a new album coming out this year, which Asian Man says will be available on vinyl.

People who were quick to pick up a set of The White Stripes's 7"s lucked out and got something of a collectors' item. It seems as though the first run of the records came labelled with a different sticker, advertising the 7"s as singles for 'You Don't Know What Love Is.'

Dischord Records continues to respond to a renewed interest in vinyl, this time with a re-pressing of All Through a Life by Rites of Spring.

MIghtier Than Sword Records has announced a new 7" from Smartbomb. Chaos and Lawlessness will be available on 70 gram vinyl with a first pressing of 500 to be announced later. The 7" is an exclusive license from Think Fast! Records.

Various online distro sites are now taking pre-orders for the fourth installment of the Me First and The Gimme Gimmes square dance 7" series. Kenny will be available outside of Fat on "Good Guys Don't Wear White" vinyl (limited to 3,300). Fat will be accepting orders for the square version on January 22. Other Fat Wreck Chords releases to keep your eyes open for include the last of the series, Jerry due on February 19 and The Loved Ones' follow-up to Keep Your Heart, Build & Burn, which will be out on February 5.

Gilead Media has offered up some rejected test presses of mewithoutYou's [A-->B] Life. Only 36 exist, so they're bound to be gone soon.

Hydra Head Records has repressed Botch's Unifying Themes Redux. The new press is available in three combinations of orange and black.

Time Magazine is running an online story on the resurgence of vinyl. "Vinyl Gets its Groove Back" can be read here.

Shock Value Records has just released the self-titled album from The Gersch, which features members of Isis and Red Sparrows. The album is available on gold (/100), white/gold haze (/200) and white (/700).

Relapse Records has made if official that they are releasing Coalesce's 012: Revolution In Just Listening. This time around it'll be known simply as 012:2 and will be available on half light blue/half dark blue/red splatter (/400), dark blue/grey splatter (/300) and half blue/black (/300).

Finally, we would like to announce the winners of our Alkaline Trio contest. Keenan Novi from Wallingford Ct will be getting a copy of Goddamnit Redux on vinyl while Dietrich May will be receiving a CD/DVD of the release. The good folks at Asian Man Records will have those in the mail for you as soon as they're ready to ship!
