The Mighty Mighty Bosstones / Street Dogs / Pietasters (Los Angeles)

The Mighty Mighty Bosstones have an announced a single performance in Los Angeles on March 1st. The show will be the band's first appearance in the city in five years.

Joining them on the bill will be Street Dogs and The Pietasters. The show is set to take place at Avalon Hollywood.

Fuck yeah. I'm not flying out to LA for this, but it proves that the Hometown Throwdown wasn't a one-off deal. I'm counting on short tours soon.

I see your point about LA fans who flew out to boston being pissed that they flew out to the east coast to see the throwdown... thinking that might be their only chance to see them.

HOWEVER,
the throwdown has a special feeling all it's own. Maybe this is a bit presumptious to say, and im not saying this hoping to sound to be some kind of superfan or anything... but if you see the Bosstones IN boston and don't have a special feeling about the whole thing, you're probably not big enough of a fan to fly over from LA.

So i'm sure these people are slightly upset... but in retrospect, not knowing there'd be a March 1st show caused some people who might have otherwise NOT attended the throwdown to see what that experience is like.

Just my two cents. Flame away.

I booked a flight from SF to Boston the day I heard about this, but in the end, when you're a poor starving college student, it's a lot of money to put down during the holidays, and I stayed home praying for a west coast show.

I wouldn't say I would've been pissed, but I certainly would have immediately noticed how much money I spent on that vacation, and I'd hope I still I had money for a trip to LA.

Man, I wish money grew on trees.

Depends on my mood. If I wanna sit back with a guiness and a smoke a cigarette and enjoy the evening its Pietasters all the way, but if I'm in an energetic mood, I'll go with the Bosstones.

Eh very different band. Bosstones, well their earlier stuff anyway, was about as thrashy as ska got back then. Pietasters are a ska revival band, through and through. I love both for very different reasons.

YES! I dont have their hell-cat stuff, but their Piestomp - Strapped Live material has made them one of my favorite bands. All Day is pretty amazing too.

I've heard a few rumors that the bosstones will be joining the bamboozle festival at the Meadowlands in the beginning of May. If the rumor is true, I do believe it is going to be announced this Friday sometime with the next batch of Bamboozle bands.

It seems to imply that the Bosstones won't be going away again any time soon.

BTW, i've heard that you have to sign up on Mi145 to get to see the recorded throwdown show, but everytime i go to the site i don't see a 'sign up' option, am i blind, or not looking in the right spot?

so stoked to see the bosstones back in action.......great guys. i had the pleasure of touring with them and all i can say is this: dickey rules, gittlemen is rad, chris has killer weed and lawrence knows how to party.....................................nuff said. GO TO THESE SHOWS!

I just moved out to Las Vegas. Luckily I signed onto Myspace (something I don't do very often anymore), saw the announcement and bought my tickets!

I haven't seen The Bosstones in six years. Needless to say, I am very excited.

expect the following: more tours, at least two more albums worth of material.
a lot of the step in the other direction for these guys was to see if they could go and do things that they had always wanted to do and thought they were capable of. i know dicky's acting and career as a radio personality got him interested in doing other things, but (much like those pre-throwdown videos that were posted here) last time i spoke to him he told me he ultimately didn't feel as though he was as good at any of his other endeavors as he was at singing in the bosstones.

I'm still not holding my breath on a full national tour. I suspect that after this show, things'll continue to be a bit slow for the BossToneS. Maybe a few shows here and there, but I don't think they're fully back in the swing.

Considering that I was one of the weirdos who flew out to see the reunion shows, I must admit that I'm equally as, if not a bit more, excited to see The Pietasters. They haven't been down to the Los Angeles area for years!

That is a sweet ass lineup, but none the less, I doubt the Bosstones will take this on the road anytime soon... unless they jump onto the Warped Tour.
