by the_problem_with_fire on 2008-03-25 17:37:46 yeah, this band sucks big time. lyrics read like really bad bumper stickers. every song sounds like they're trying to be oh so political. we get it guys. you're the very, very, very poor man's propagandhi. you'll never write a song like iteration. hope your myspace secret show is totally killer!!

Re: Anti-Flag: "The Bright Lights of America"
by danperrone on 2008-03-25 17:44:22 this album is way too..."epic". they're trying so hard to make every song sound so powerful and meaningful that they forgot how to write a good simple song. children's choruses? are you kidding me?

new goldfinger: few good songs, the horns are back in a few!...a bunch of clunkers toward the end including a screamo song. solid effort, but they remind me of mxpx and i dont think they'll ever remember how to write a song how the used to (self titled for GF and life in general for mxpx)

this record is boring, the songs are too long and the vocals all sound the same. i used to like anti-flag but i haven't listened to even their old records in months.

Re: Anti-Flag: "The Bright Lights of America"
by AnotherBoringStory on 2008-03-25 19:07:41 http://www.last.fm/user/mikestupid I actually really like this album. Some of the songs are forgettable, but "The Smartest Bomb" and "Valley Of The Dead" are really good.

I still don't support all of their decisions, but they are nice guys and they do put on a good show and do have good intentions.
Re: Anti-Flag: "The Bright Lights of America"
by manincognito on 2008-03-25 19:40:50 ...its different..but, that being said, i still think it's a good contribution...there's some really great tracks here, and a few mediocre ones..but all in all, a damn fine listen.
Re: Anti-Flag: "The Bright Lights of America"
by Bill737 on 2008-03-25 19:56:25 while this is not my favorite Anti-Flag album, it has some really good songs. however, you all exemplify the reason that the internet should be shut down for good. get a life.

I think "Stand Up" by the Suicide Machines (I think it was on Steal This Record) is probably the least heart-felt "political" song I've ever heard. I had a lapse in judgement today and listened to that album for the first time in a while. Not too good. All My People is an absolute cringe-fest. The Killing Blow as a lead-off song may be the worst sequencing blunder of all time. What the fuck were they (or Hollywood) thinking?

Is this site becoming Anti-FlagNews.org?! I just complained about this a few days ago...the fact that that horrible picture of those horrible people has popped up on the main page about six times this month. It's really starting to freak me out.

I wonder if any of you actually "listen" to the lyrics of any songs? I would be willing to bet that you are all of the opinion that Barack Obama is bad because his middle name is "Hussein" or that his first name rhymes with "Osama".

I dont understand how some people on this site like some records but dont like others. These songs are just as good as a lot of up and coming quality punk bands that are even written about on the org, and yet so many dont like it just cause its anti-flag who is playing the song.

Wow. This is going to be the most disgraceful record ever released to the public. Didn't even have the patience to listen to the whole song - yawn - left me running to my record collection for the nearest dead kennedys/crass album. Good God, truly awaful...it's shite!

I heard the album and it became the first Anti-Flag record I didnt buy. Most the songs here were resemblant of This Is The End... which I couldnt stand on the last record. I really hope this shit stops now that their RCA contract has concluded. |
