I once dated a girl who thought Poison the Well was the greatest hardcore band ever. Months after we broke up she called me to say she was thinking of killing herself because she didn't want to get out of a relationship with some asshole who didn't love and who may or may not have gotten her pregnant.

Words cannot express how much fuck that relationship.

i know a few kids who were able to fight their way out of it, but that was back in 2003. it's always nice to poke fun at exes for their shitty taste in...everything.

For a while I thought she was gonna be cool because she kept telling me stories about how she got in fights in high school "cause black girls aren't supposed to like The Cure," but she just ended up being another dramatic indie schmuck.

I thought their last record was pretty damn good. I just wonder if bands that go through significant lineup changes and who jigger with their sound are kind of better off starting a new band and re-branding (ugh, I hate that concept) themselves as something different.

So many people already have their mind made up about this band, which has more in common with Failure, Jesus Lizard and Hum than metalcore these days. That's too bad--people should check out their newer stuff and give it its due.

yeah, I actually thought that Versions was okay. I think even annoying fucking bands like PTW have a chance to redeem themselves, and they kind of did it with Versions.

I'll have to check that record out again because none of the samples I heard had anything in common with those three bands.
