Rancid have unveiled their summer touring plans for North America. The band will be performing with a huge variety of artists from Bomb the Music Industry to MxPx, to Westbound Train to the Flatliners to Big D and the Kids Table.
Palladium+Rise Against+Thursday+Circa Survive+Billy Talent+The absolutely unfathomable shittiness of the MBTA=why the fuck did I spend nearly a hundred dollars bringing my brother and friend to this show?
Has the Palladium got that bad? I lived in Falmoth Mass, and Narragansett RI, 2001- 2002. I thought that the Palladium was one of the better venues for the DIY acts. I'm in MN now, The tripple rock/ Myth seem to be the shit as far as the punk scene in MN. Fuckin sucks if the old New England venue is selling out to the Glitter psudo punks.
I don't really like big venues personally, but thats not the biggest problem. The biggest problem is that I'm in Boston, no access to a car, so I have to rely on the trains, and the MBTA is awful awful AWFUL!
I know, but most of the dudes in Madball were in Hazen St, which is shitty rap rock that makes Limp Bizkit look like the Beatles. Skinhead Rob is the single worst rapper alive, including Vanilla Ice and 50 Cent.
Their forces combined would lead to the single most awful thing to be called music since free jazz.
Well, it's like how when you're watching z-grade horror movies and you start thinking not about what would make this better, but what would make this worse?
I hate Hazen St. with a passion that most people reserve for child murderers and Dick Cheney, but I wondered how they could be worse. Skinhead Rob trading lines with the dude from Madball all Rawkus-style seems like the single worst thing I can conceive of.
I dare anyone to try and think of anything worse than the phrase "Hazen St. f/Skinhead Rob."
i'm assuming you've actually listened to them, then.
not defending the band, i never checked them out, but if you're going to be that passionate about it, i'm gonna guess you've spent some time checkking it out.
Hazen St weren't rap rock, at all. Not that I liked it, but it was far from rap rock. And, if you've heard Skinhead Rob's newer stuff (post Transplants) you'd certainly not think he was that bad of an MC.
They did, but there was some announcement where the lead singer (whose name excepts me at the moment) said he was broke and needed money so he wouldn't break up the band officially. If I was a pinch less lazy I'd find a link, but I'm exactly as lazy as I am.
Well I guess that explains the fat tattooed dude wearing a basketball jersey, smacking the side of a turned off computer monitor with a pop-up book and mumbling something about how "The Shield was supposed to be on", last time I was at the library.
Everyone's getting some pretty big openers, but the Ft. Lauderdale date gets Guajiro (semi-local band, certainly not very big). I would be pissed, except i'm not going anyway.
Last time Rancid came down, it was Avail and Guajiro supporting. Avail was so fucking good. I wish we had better openers and I'd consider going. I don't think I've ever seen H20 live...
However, it is REALLY weird to see that The House That Gloria Vanderbilt is playing with Rancid.... just really fucking weird.
They should just make it Apocalypse Hoboken.
Speaking of, I was sitting at a bar in Barrington talking to Todd Pott last Summer, and even though he was a very nice fella, he reeked of beer, weed, man-cum, and bloody urine. The stench was... awesome.
wait, wait! let me guess before I even read the dates... no northern california dates... ok, let's read the list... yup! I was right!
honestly I dont remember the last tour list here that actually had a norcal date (of the bands I'd actually see). whatever, maybe I need to start listening to bon jovi or something, he seems to make it here often.
Well, let's see, common sense: there's no Cal dates here for a US tour, so one would think they're coming. Second, my friends' band is playing several in Cal after these dates.
Also, that's how tour dates work. Unless it's AC/DC or U2, they announce dates in batches as they're confirmed. $20 says there's a news item here in 1-2 months announcing West Coast dates.
Exactly. Even those bands do it too. They'll probably have a couple weeks off then hit a bunch of cities. What's boggling to me is, everytime there's a tour announcement on here, we go through the same shit.
Interesting match up with Th' Legendary Shack Shakers, but what a killer show that'll be! The Shack Shakers are easily one of the best live bands (and recording bands) there are right now.
wow, i knew about the rancid dates,. but kickass opener bands for both toronto dates...im just pissed i will be out of country...oh well, anyone going to these shows, have a blast!
How much are tickets to the rest of these dates, because the Austin show is $30!! I will not pay $30 to see Rancid(who I saw just over a year ago for at least half that).
I will personally mail the person a first pressing of Energy 12" who sends me a video of them knocking the fuck out of Tim Armstrong, NSK/Danzig-style. You will also get a signed Rancid s/t EP on Lookout if it's on stage on this tour.
well, considering all the other kinda cool acts opening up for rancid, orlando got fucked... voodoo glow skulls and whole wheat bread.. woo hoo, two bands who might be lucky to still be around in the next 3 years
Seriously? You're complaining about Voodoo Glow Skulls AND you're saying they won't be around in 3 years?
1) They're awesome live.
2) They've been around for like 19 or 20 years already, so saying that they won't be around in another 3 isn't really harmful to say.
3) Why would it matter to you if they broke up 2 days after the show?
4) I love VGS.
While I don't love Voodoo Glow Skulls like this guy, I used to listen to them (especially "Who Is This Is?") and you have to admit, they keep going on despite the odds (based on the generally short shelf-life of their genre).
Fuck MXPx. They Are Gay. Murphys Law is tight though. I only had to pay $9.33 for tickets to the denver show though so i guess im happy.
When i got the music, i gotta place to go!!...
How old is this news?
