Underground Operations signs Toronto's Kathleen Turner Overdrive

Underground Operations has signed Toronto's Kathleen Turner Overdrive and will release the band's full length Marauders! Wolves! Scavengers! Party! on June 3rd. You can check out some music on the band's MySpace page.

Note this is not the Georgia-based pop-punk band, Toronto-based the improv comedy troupe, UK-based cover band, or the fictional band from High Fidelity which all share the name.

not bad...i think their best signings and releases have been from closet monster (rip), bombs over providence (rip), marilyn's vitamins (rip), hostage life, dead letter dept., the brat attack, protest the hero, and aspirations...bands like i hate sally drive me fuckin nuts though..i cannot stand them. all in all, a great toronto label.

I have this idea of Canadians being super friendly, so it;s hard for me to see Canadian punk bands as anything but adorable.

I lived in Canada for nearly two years, and as an American (where 8 out of 10 people are inconsiderate assholes) I found it very odd that almost everyone I ran into was overly nice.

I was out with the girl on Sunday walking around the monuments after the Nats game, and she was pissing me off, so I loaded up a street vendor hot dog with mustard, sauerkraut, and hot sauce and then tried to make out with her in front of the carousel.

I'm not offended. With all the things said on this site, you'll have to do more to offend me than rip on the Midwest.

I know we are nice. Disney was a big recruiter at my college. They said it was because if you get people from the Midwest, you don't need to teach them courtesy. I'm oddly proud of that fact. Midwest courtesy kicks Southern hospitality's ass any day.

Yeah, I never understood 'southern hospitality'. Most of the time it's just being dumb, ignorant or confused. I've got relatives from NC and FL, many of which scare the living shit out of me.

Hmm, let's see, from my experience.

North Carolina was pretty much like here with southern accents, but I've really only been to the Raleigh/Durham area to any extent.

Bumfuck Virginia was kind of eerie and weird and I couldn't really understand what people were saying to me.

North Georgia in the mountains definitely had southern hospitality, as long as you were white, but everything was SO F'N SLOW.

Alabama it seemed like people were okay but changed the way they acted once they heard my northern accent. There were also many more rednecks than fit my comfort zone.

Florida I've only been to Gainesville and Orlando, so that's probably not a good sample.

Well, you're meeting the wrong southerners.
Admittedly, there are plenty of dumb, ignorant, and/or confused people in the south, but a good number are courteous, great people.
I have cousins in FL, MS, AL, GA, TN, and KY, and they're all great people.
