After giving the song a listen, I couldn't agree with you more. Me thinks I am getting a bit tired of the folky redundancy in Matt's work, too.

So would it be too early to ask for a Get Up Kids reunion? (I think the chances of that happening are slim though since Rob Pope must be rolling in the dough with his safe gig in Spoon.)

everything after "something to write home about" is fucking garbage. eudora was ok, but those were older cuts.

What? I don't like the Offspring at all. I bought On a Wire when I was 19 and was totally not impressed. I had been listening to them since Red Letter Day EP came out, which was about 5 years at that point. The Get Up Kids sounded like Get Up Geezers on On a Wire. Instead of playing hooky, fun, up-tempo songs, they wrote songs that would work well to listen to while you are on hold on any corporate phone line. It just sounds like even they are bored with the songs, hell, on the song "All That I Know" the vocals sound like they were recorded right after Matt Pryor woke from a nap. The thing is, this came out in 2002 when emo was becoming a taboo term, as commercial bands were ruining it for everyone. So maybe GUK were trying to find a new sound, so to not be lost in the backlash, but I just think that instead of finding a new sound, they lost their old one, and

They sort of started getting their balance back on Guilt Show, and I think had they released an album after that one, it might have had all the kinks worked out, but, that didn't happen.

On a Wire is so very underrated. It's a great melodic pop / rock album. I guess you don't like anything The Beatles released in 1967 if you're not into "All That I Know." It's a great song! Even the songs I thought were "duds" on On a Wire later grew on me in a big way. I don't get how you don't like STWHA or Eudora if you like Four Minute Mile but, nonetheless, I agree with you that FMM is a great album.

i like parts of eudora. i love the beatles. on a wire has it's moments, but it's just a totally weak album. it sounds lazy.

I think Something To Write Home About is really good as well.

They are my second favorite band, so I love everything by them. But I will say On a Wire was their best work.

One of the best cds ever. But I love everything the get up kids touched

TGUK are in my top 3 fav bands of all time, and four minute mile is hardly even listenable to me.

yo this was posted a day or two ago.

FAIL.

i'm 24 and after a shitty breakup went from 180 to 166 pounds. i've stopped losing weight but i am still a little flabby. how can i harden up my mid section. crunches seem to be working only real slow and really it's not that much. i drink a lot of beer. is my only option to quit all the booze. i do lots of running. 4 miles 5 times a week. any suggestions on how to stop this plateau i've hit and get a little more hard/lean?

Yes. Drink about a dozen National Bohemian beers a day, eat lots of tacos, and the most exercise you should ever get is carrying a crate up records up the stairs at the Ottobar. I call it the Baltimore diet. It works for me.

I used to work with the dude's wife and he was nothing but nice to me when I'd see him walkin around town.

Really? My friend and I yelled out "ALL EARS!" about two times before he threw it into their set for us.

Matt was really nice both times I met him. I think he may like to act a little conceited on stage.

He's a super nice guy, and I've never seen him be anything other than a total sweet heart (so to say).
