I like this band, it doesn't bother me that they take so long in between albums. I think it's worth it.

Awesome band. I usually don't like it when a video follows the lyrics, but for this song (and the last video as well) I make exceptions. So good.

This is a very well directed video. I love how the editing and the shot roll right along with the pace of the song. I wish they didn't follow the lyrics to heavily though. The part where he literally climbs on to the table is corny. And of all the things to visualize, I still don't know what "two rings battling an extra head" means. Oh and finally, it was a bad decision to show John singing when he's clearly overlapping his own vocals in the song. It looks awkward.

Anyways... best Canadian beer, anyone?

the lyric is "two rinks battling in extra ends"
Rink = what you call a curling team
extra ends = basically overtime for curling (you go to extra ends if you're tied on points after 10 ends)
best canadian beer = kokanee (pussy beer, I know)

for the best canadian beer, you have to go to canada and try some smaller breweries. since i'm on the west coast, i'm all about the BC brews. philips draft dodger... victoria island's Hermanns dark lager... and when it's available, the granville island winter ale is unreal.

It's the name of the Canadian women's curling championship.

For every 10 inspirational American football movies we get one musical work about curling. It's in NAFTA.

Agreed. I wondered if they would be able to top Reconstruction Site. And lo and behold, they didn't! Even Tournament of Hearts is "meh" for me. (In terms of Weakerthans songs, that is.)

It's not flawless, but I liked it more than Reconstruction Site. RS was kind of a huge disappointment for me because I loved Left and Leaving so much that I wanted them to explore that path more than putting out a pop album. It's not a bad album, but every now and then I'll put it on and I'm still pretty limp to it.

Can anyone say with any certainty what is going on at about 2:54 of this video? It is a strange moment. You may have to pause it to get a good look, but it's worth it.
