Slayer's Kerry King provides album updates

Kerry King of Slayer provided Total Guitar/Metal Hammer writer Joel McIver an update on the status of the band's next album and future plans:

There's been talk of all kinds of odd things, because the record industry changes every day. We've talked about maybe putting out a couple of songs from an upcoming record through iTunes, so we can play something new on the Unholy Alliance III tour. You know, that's not so far outside the realm of possibility. As far as how much we're gonna get done by the end of the year? I have no idea.

The new album will follow 2006's Christ Illusion. It is expected in late 2008/early 2009 and may possibly be the band's last record as singer and bassist Tom Araya has said he's reaching an age where it might no longer be reasonable to tour or record.

No, it is. They definately played it up towards the less classy crowd for the past couple of decades. I saw them last year, and they were had such a riddiculous stage presence (did play some old stuff, which was good).

I think Reign In Blood is their most important. But I'd have to say Seasons in the Abyss is probably my all-time favorite.

Pretty much Reign, South of Heaven, Seasons, and I actually really like Christ Illusion.

Yeah, Reign in Blood is awesome. I also like South of Heaven and Seasons in the Abyss. The rest of them aren't as good as those ones.

I'm going to be the oucast here, but my favourite Slayer album is Undisputed Attitude. I was never really into Slayer until I heard them covering some classic punk songs with WAY more aggression than the originals. From there, I went on to carving their name into my forearm with a razor blade...right after my Lionel Richie scars healed.

Way more aggression? I don't think so..........Verbal Abuse and Minor Threat were ten times more aggressive than Slayer. Heavy riffs and higher production values don't equal aggression.

SLAYER!!!

Damnit, Kerry King didn't really give much incite to maybe how the album will sound. How is Tom Araya getting too old, but not the rest of the band in the same age bracket? Considering their age, they don't really slow down on record or live. Well if its true, I can be glad I've got to see them about 10-15 times.

That's because their live show consists of them standing there playing their instruments and nothing more.....they are the least physical band I have ever seen.
