Panic At the Disco: "Write Sins Not Tragedies" at Abbey Road

Panic! At the Disco recently recorded a set at the legendary Abbey Road Studios set to air tonight at 10pm on Sundance. Through Spin, a track from the set is available for streaming online.

i find it strange that people hate on this band but somehow manage to enjoy the killers or even a band like vampire weekend.

personally i don't like any of it, but musically i don't hear that much of a difference between panic at the disco and a lot of the buzz-band indie stuff that's been big over the past ten years.

I can see how they're the same as The Killers but please, don't lump Vampire Weekend in with that group. I know they're nothing new but godddamnit, it's just a fun, catchy record. I'd say they're more similar to The Shins than this garbage.

I know a lot of people who would say that Panic is "goddamnit, just a fun and catchy band." The original poster hit the nail on the head with this band being very similar to bands like Vampire Weekend that people cream their jeans over just because they can get the same kind of "fun and catchy" music without the stigma of liking a band like Panic.

If you can't hear a big difference between this band and the Killers, you need to get your ears checked. Panic at the Dildo is to the Killers, as Yellowcard is to Bad Religion.

Vamire Weekend was a horrible let down for me. It is nothing like the Talking Heads, it is more like a low rent version of Islands, who did the Afro-Indie sound way better anyway.

UHMM...they took out the exclamation point punknews, get with it. Now there's just a mild panic at the disco. Not some super off the hook crazy gay shit.
Now, it's just some dudes getting together and if it gets a little nutty, so be it. Before it was like, "Let's get to the disco, light some shit on fire, make prank calls, rip the tags of mattresses, huff some glue and fuck like it's the cure to cancer! WOO!! I'm gonna live forever".

It's kinda cool being in your mid-twenties. I haven't listened to the radio intentionally in 12 years or so, and since I'm not in other people's cars much and I go to bars where they don't play kiddie music, I don't think I'd even recognize a Panic at the Disco song.

My sympathies to all you high school and early college kids out there who are subjected to shitty music by accident on a daily basis.

I was a teenager during the '80's punk and hardcore era - the best era ever IMO. Back then, if you had told someone your 'band' was called Panic At The Disco (or Cute Is What We Aim For, or Be Your Own Pet, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc., etc.) you would have been stared at like you were a space alien and mocked

Their new cd was amazing, it was one of my favorite albums of this year. As a result, I'm going to get blasted by org'ers from all directions but I don't care I can spin a great disc while you guys can bitch because people outside of your realm liked a band that graced your precious punk circle.

I just hope you downloaded it and didn't pay them for it. They are musically inept. If a sound existed that induced nosebleeds, I would imagine it would sound like this.
