The Neighbors have been defunct for several years, after releasing 3 wicked albums. Here are some samples you can hear on lastfm http://www.last.fm/music/The+Nieghbors
The stuff from that album is more thrash than punk, but their older stuff is like the Dead Kennedys on speedballs. Also, to give you a better idea of their sound, the singer has a new band which actually does have a myspace.

Anyway, it's hard to sit still while this shit is on. I have all 3 of their albums if you can think of a way for me to send 'em to ya...

It took me a while to get this to ya because my home computer is fucked and I can't look up mp3's at work when I'm usually on the org.

I reckon that he has to at least split some of the profit with the other 5 guys who played on this.

I, too, am not too clear on why this had to be put out as a solo release as it sounds basically the same as much of the bright eyes stuff. I could see if it was some great deviation from what he had been doing like the Desaparecidos, but this is just too similar.

That being said, I like it, but I am just going to pretend that it is Bright Eyes.

Actually, I think Conor Oberst is really the only member of Bright Eyes. Everyone else just guests. This is more of a band than Bright Eyes. So your cynicism is a little unwarranted.

I could be wrong, though. But I don't think I am.

there's always a guy named mike mogis and i think they have a trumpet player too. everyone else is a guest... but i could be wrong on that too.

Yeah, I think you're right. I know Mike Mogis produces all of the albums (as well as Cursive's). I think Nate Walcott is the other guy. I didn't realize they were actually members until now. I just checked the liner notes for Cassadaga.

From the two songs I've heard, I think it's more rocking. More country-rock. I'll have to wait to hear the rest of the album first, though.

I've read in interviews from him that he doesn't like the name Bright Eyes but is sort of stuck with it. Maybe this is his first step towards the next phase of his career.

Is one of those two songs "Souled Out!!". I personally like that song, but a lot of people hate it, it seems.

So my friend (who loves Bright Eyes, like really really loves them [him?]) invited me to see them when they came to LA, and I literally fell asleep during the majority of the show. I don't hate them, just not my cup of tea, their cool to hear in said friends car but at the concert the majority of it felt like it was acoustic ballads that just bored me to death and the seats at the Walt Disney Concert Hall were quite comfortable. ANYWAYS, they closed the concert with a song that was really good, and had TONS of people playing all kinds of instruments and jumping around. I asked my friend for the name of the song but I forgot it. So I'm hoping he usually closes with the same song and one of you guys can tell me what it's called.

this guy is so fucking over rated it makes me sick. usually, i don't bitch about music or artists on this website but i felt that i needed to say something. word cannot express how much i think this guy is O-V-E-R R-A-T-E-D! . i'm NOT saying he ISN'T talented or blah blah blah blah .. he just seems to be right up there next to Jesus and Moses. he isn't a fucking prophet... he's an "artist" with a bad haircut.

I don't know, there's some sort of great appeal to the guy's music, but it takes a while to get it. I don't think he's overrated at all.

I love this song.

Although isn't it weird that when Conor goes solo, he actually GAINS a band with a solid lineup as opposed to a revolving door of guest musicians? I think it's pretty cool, though.

This stuff sounds pretty good. It took me a minute to figure out why there was a merge logo. I automatically replaced Conor Oberst with Bright Eyes in my mind without even thinking about it. Oh, and Mike Mogis has been with Bright Eyes for forever, in one form or another. Don't know about the rest.

bright eyes was just conor and guests up until a few years ago.

now it has three permanent members: mike mogis, nate walcott, and conor oberst, who work collectively on all of bright eyes' music.

conor obersts solo stuff is all him.... even tho the sound is similar to cassadaga and four winds.
