To be fair, it's all relative. Mozart's contemporaries called his music much the same thing. I'm not saying Napalm Death is Mozart, but a lot of people would put all punk music in that category.

see it was hard cuz aside from the already mentioned negatives I'd be going alone to HWM but I've seen BK a lot and Prop once before and I listen to HWM more on record than both the other two. BUT aside from dude-bros, RZA and GZA and Metric were playing so pseudo-hipsters (for both) and pseudo-gangsters would make up the rest of the crowd.

You are very right. My sentiment exactly toward Propagandhi, and I-Spy. I'd even go as far as saying that I haven't listened to Propagandhi since John K left... I-Spy on the other hand, I could listen to everyday... Other badn of note, Painted Thin when they still had the drummer from I-Spy playing with them.

What was Propagandhi's set list like? Approximately how many mohawks were in attendance?

Yeah, that's definitely true. There's plenty of things they reacted to in the same exact ways too. Like the Food Not Bombs (which seem to be kind of synonymous to a point with punks) handing out free food and stuff, the hippies were doing that kind of stuff so long ago before punk was even around.

It's always seemed really silly to me that there seems to be this almost hostile disconnect between the 'punks' and 'hippies'.

How do you know this "music journalist"(I can never even take the phrase seriously) isnt just being more than a little oppurtunistic.Maybe they dont like the music press(most bands dont)but were a little more free and open with their derision.Maybe he caught them on a bad tour and stresss and tensions were high??Maybe you shouldnt relate OLD second hand gossip about people you never met without even siting second hand examples? I met Barney a couple of times and he was very cordial. Also,this writer must be a newbie,who couldnt get "embedded" on any big name tours,cuz really, at that budget,how fucking spoiled could Napalm Death be? I like what I like. And what I like is actual songs, not just some dudes grinding like millers or teenage brats whining about their suburban existence. I used to listen to that stuff. Quite a lot, actually. But then I stopped being 16. Once you've discovered artists like Thelonious Monk or Howlin' Wolf or Hank Williams, Sr., it's really difficult to go back and listen to Blanks 77 and not either roll your eyes or start laughing.

i liked KISS when i was a kid, i still like KISS. same goes for Cream, Sabbath, all that shit.. my first musical experiences werent Warped Tour or a Blanks 77 show.

They were innovators,so thats different.Gaslight Anthem are...well...not as dynamic.I like them they have some good songs, but... Napalm Death blazed a trail AND are still kickin.And despite all the blather,they have kept the same core members for 18 years now.Shane Embury,Bass main songwriter for ALL of it,been there since the begining. and Vocalist Mark Barney Greenway,since 1990.The only grind/death vocalist with like NO effects on his vocals except token reverb and echo!
