Whether it was Frankie's insistence to RELAX or the now tame, yet then surely demonic, imaging of the Bones Brigade, tees have always excited me. I still have a closet overflowing with them. From their inception as sailor issue with sex appeal to the standard alley wear of rockers, their decades of cultural importance have permeated the sensibilities of everyone from even the most passive wearers to the ranks of Hedi Slimane. I and my dear friend Danny fall somewhere in between, and from our regions between, we are thrilled to create and bring to you our very own designs. We do hope you like them. The brand sold out of their first design within twenty four hours.
Davey Havok, frontman for Southern California's AFI, has launched a new fashion line featuring limited edition t-shirts. Named Zu Boutique, the fashion line will only print 100 of each t-shirt design, with each shirt hand numbered zero to 99. Havok had this to say on the website's blog:

Why not just put them directly on e-bay? That is where there really gonna sell. If a gaslight anthem lp can go for $200 then a limited t-shirt deigned by this ass hat will probably double that

i would expect so much more from some artsy fartsy dude like Davey Havok. that design is fucking awful. i cannot imagine anyone who isn't a 15 year old AFI super fan who would be caught wearing that dumb shit.

You're all just jealous of that fact that I am the proud owner and wearer of TWO Bee shirts now. 2+ Replies

First off, got to love the fact the the website looks like they use the same photographer that American Apparel uses. You know, that creepy dude who pays homeless drug addicts to take their clothes off for a Big Mac Value Meal. Nothing I like more than seeing my potential new outfit modeled by half naked underage transients. 4+ Replies

AFI suck. I used to be able to tolerate them but they are just horrible. This guy is a creep and dresses like a goth chick. Stop making music, keep making your lame ass fashion t-shirts because i'm pretty sure i will never see anyone wearing one of these, and if i do, i know they will be a fan of AFI and it will be a good reason to avoid them.

Davey would definitely not do the topless girl with a picture of a bee covering her boob.

Is it really $63? THAT'S the joke. I can understand someone with such rampant fans starting a fashion line but charging over the odds for them is just rubbish.
vocalyouth (August 4, 2008)
For the next run of 100 shirts, and the $6100 in profit at least they will make from them, I will gladly take that $6100 and make them a better website. That site is horrendous.

"Zu Boutique is here to pay homage to pop culture, forward thinking, and hedonism through highly exclusive, lovely to touch, ultra fabulous graphic tees. Out of our deep love of Music, Movies, Vegans, Heathens and anything else our self-indulgent hearts desire, we bring our shirts to those who share our passions. We make shirts that would have us doing a little dance had we happened upon them on the rack. We hope that those who discover our designs find themselves just as dancey." 2+ Replies
