Videos: Paint it Black: "We Will Not"

Paint It Black have let fans know of a YouTube'd video for the song "We Will Not" from their recent full length New Lexicon. As you can see, this clip put the budget of "Thriller" to shame.

As previously announced the band is set to embark on a European tour in September with Trash Talk. Around that trek they'll appear at just about every fest on this side of the milky way, including Best Friends Day, This Is Hardcore, F Yeah Fest, Ill Blood Fest , Riot Fest and The Fest 7.

you know, in high school and middle school i was pretty much a loser (some would argue i still am, i suppose). i mean, i said and did some stupid fucking shit that i'd imagine there would be some folks around here that could relate to the level of humiliation i felt on a daily basis simply waking up in the morning. and even today, now at 25, every now and again i'll remember something and it will sting pretty badly (the difference is, i can now go down to the corner and grab a fifth of vodka to kind of quell it).

however, thank god i was ahead of the time of youtube and videos because i swear to god if i ever had to live the rest of my life knowing that i'd submitted something like this to the internet for all to view i'd just fucking off myself there. how these kids live with themselves on a daily basis is beyond the fuck of me.

leave Death Cab out of this, they earned their position through a decade of touring in small venues. There's not that many bands you could say that about, most would have broken up and blamed the music industry, kids not caring about "real music", bum deal from their label, etc.

wasn't all that impressed with this album. i liked the sound on the last album better. Past Tense Future Perfect is a fucking awesome song. Nothing else on the album hit me like that song. I think Yemin comes off as trying too hard, really forcing the "i'm a real political guy' thing. I'm not saying he isn't, he just seems to always have to make that point...

on an unrelated note... can someone tell me why so many bands add pointless noise tracks to albums? I can't stand when I pay hard earned money to pop in a new album and the first song is 30 seconds of static and random noise. This is not a "song" and i can't understand why it even gets titled as if it were a song. why can't this shit just get tacked onto a song or something? even worse if there are two or more of these fucking noise tracks

I support fans making homemade videos. I once tried to get several friends of mine to help me re-create scene for scene Yellowcard's video "Ocean Avenue", you'd have thought I asked them for thier kidney or something because all but one of them got really really mad and wanted nothing to do with it. I remember one guy told me "Man, I don't even know you and if you don't get out of my face with this dumb video idea I'm going to "knock your lights out" (he actually swore). I still see him around town and he won't even look at me in the face. Anyway, hats off to the girls that made this!

This video would have been almost tolerable if it didn't actually have audio from the girls singing along. I made it about 10 seconds and then actually heard the girl half singing along and felt so embarrassed for them that I muted the video and scrolled down to read the comments.

do you guys know that if i had any clue that thousands of people would see this video, i would've at least had a cooler background and wore a fucking t-shirt. i mean, sheeesh. people are so critical. this was made one random night in june after smoking a few bowls in a friends bedroom. we made it for fun, obviously.. ..not to be called lame a million times, that fucking hurts. i'm very happy that one of my favorite bands found this, and loved it.. not so happy about all of the shit that's come along with them using it.

i wish i didn't have such a defensive personality..

i don't think i'm cut out for criticism from strangers who don't know a single thing about me besides watching me dance while stoned as balls. i strive daily to be compassionate maauufcka.. so allll the negative shit really breaks my heart guys.

I thought the video was hilarious and although every time I started dreaming they were making out when they went off camera they'd pop back in.

But what I want to say is something else: I'm not a big fan of PiB and I kinda agonize over why (well, not agonize really but you know) since the org seems to love them so much.

But what this video made me realize is the appeal of the vapid lyrical content to people who are angry/upset/depressed but don't really have anything to say. Which is pretty much every teenager and many college students.

I'm sure I'm being unfair to Doctor Dan but could his lyrics be any more cliched, over done, and stale? I'm not asking for Anton Chekov but c'mon..

Maybe the problem is it just doesn't "click" for me, because I sure wouldn't try to defend or even scrutinize the lyrics of some stuff
