Videos: No Idea Records mini-documentary

A group of students from Full Sail University has put together a mini-documentary for Gainesville, FL-based beardcore label No Idea Records. We've received word that the video was completed for a final school project, and the director(s) have since graduated. Whether the video serves as a trailer for a full-length documentary feature are unknown, however, the posted 6-minute clip gives an interesting look into the label responsible for releases from bands like Hot Water Music, Planes Mistaken For Stars, Radon and many more.

The label also hosts the annual Fest each year. This year's Fest 7 will feature Bouncing Souls, Less Than Jake, Leatherface, Dillinger Four, The Lawrence Arms and many, many more over the weekend of October 31st in where else? Gainesville, FL.

hard for me to say stacked up against each other although I think I liked PMFS later work a lot better than HWM's later work.

also planes only released really 4 full lengths and a few EPs, so there's that to discriminate against as well. while hot water music released a lot of great stuff, the volume of their catalogue also accounts for a lot of "misses," while planes (to me at least) never really missed the mark on anything.

I don't know if I entirely agree with your initial statement of Planes>HWM because I'm a little bit more biased towards HWM (shocker) but I really did like Planes, and they were a great band, and I'd love to see them do a reunion tour.

also while this looks interesting, the "looking up from the knees" perspective is horrible for documentaries. i mean, what the fuck? he's pointing out these important rooms in the no idea offices and you're looking at a virgins t-shirt and the ceiling.

that's the beauty of full sail, they will pretty much let in anyone who pays the insane fee to go there
so you get a good mix of people who actually know what they are doing and then just complete fucking idiots

i know one person who went there and in the past five years he produced a fischerspooner album and was the head engineer on the newest outputs from modest mouse, the hives, and gavin degraw.

That was awesome! I moved to Panama City FL 10 years ago, and lasted 3 months before leaving due to being a cultural wasteland. I should have went to Gainesville instead. One of the few labels that iI will buy almost anything they put out.
