Watch octogenarians perform the Sex Pistols' "God Save the Queen"

A video has been posted from the new exhibition No Future produced by Christoph Büchel, at the Sydney Biennale 2008:

The exhibit transforms the gallery into a rehearsal space for a punk band of volunteers who are over the age of 80 years. In the space they rehearse the 1977 Sex Pistol's hit, "God Save the Queen" which was originally banned from the BBC but topped charts anyway.

The band gathers for practice and performs in public whenever they please during the gallery's opening hours, during which their sessions are video-taped and recorded and will be released on DVD and CD at the end of the Biennale.

Ramones started punk, Sex Pistols popularized it and the Clash perfected it. Almost everybody I talk to switch the Clash and Sex Pistols around.

i prefer to think the ramones started it, the clash brought in politics and "messages", and the sex pistols were the worlds best hair dye/safety pin commercial.

You know, all the old bands respected the Sex Pistols. Dee Dee personally knew Sid Vicious as a friend. I've never heard ANYBODY say "the Ramones are posers". Its just idiotic to come on a punk site and bash the Sex Pistols. Its a fact that the Sex Pistols were the first political punk band, and the first UK punk band. Its also a fact that their manager did not "create" them. He only offered them a place to practice and record, for they had been a band since 1974. Johnny Rotten got hired to be their vocalist. Its not like it was the first or last auditioning in punk history. Look at the Damned. Their line up is almost completely different from when they started, but nobody ever says "the Damned are posers". If you like any punk rock at all, you have to at leas

Its just idiotic to come on a punk site and bash the Sex Pistols. Its a fact that the Sex Pistols were the first political punk band, and the first UK punk band.
