Face to Face to tour Australia in 2009

As the band continues their reunion tour, Face to Face have been confirmed for Australia's Soundwave 2009 festival, which travels through five cities. Frontman Trever Keith had recently mentioned that the band may record a new album at some point. The band's last album was How To Ruin Everything in 2002.

Don't Turn Away, though I like them all (even Ignorance is Bliss), that is the 2nd best record followed by Big Choice

Agreed, How to Ruin Everything is great (not Don't Turn Away great, but still great). I may have to listen to that after lunch. The World in Front of You is one of their best songs, in my opinion. And to me, I'm right.

I'll be going for sure. Went to the Melbourne one last year, loved it, though the line up sucked. If any aussies could help me out, should I go somewhere else like Brisbane or Perth for the fest since it'll double as a holiday for me as well. anyone? :)

The self titled is great and Ignorance is bliss is was a good step aside from what they are used to playing.... it came with an EP called So Why Aren't You Happy? and has a song called Bottle Rockets that is proabably my favorite Face To Face song ever.

The covers record is really amazing as well

Im not sure if this has been posted earlier but I think Leatherface is doing atleast an east coast tour after the fest. They are booked for Atlanta at the Drunken Unicorn on November 3rd. Seeing how no one really wants to play in Atlanta unless they have to it looks like its going all the way up the east coast.

I heard about this show a few months ago actually. At the time it was posted , it said Nov 6th. but considering theyre playing Drunken Unicorn Id imagine the date to have changed. I really havent heard the official date(or at least remembered it) but I know for SURE they are coming.

It is damn near impossible for me to get to shows in Baltimore from Towson. I'm going to have to take some sketchy ass bus from my school to Penn Station and then find a way to venues from there.

That's comforting. I also just saw that i can take a bus to somewhere thats like a 15 minute walk from the ottobar. I suck at buses though, so i would really only do that if I was with someone.

People actually enjoy listening to crust punk? Wow. I thought they just did because it was expected of them. Show him some good 80's hardcore. Some Minor Threat, Rollins-Era Black Flag.

I'll have to give those a try. He'll probably like minor threat. It's really interesting to watch his taste in music change as he gets older. He used to be obsessed with KISS....I'm not really sure if crust punk is a step up or a step down from that.

I remember seeing them in Austin, TX at The Backroom (is it still open? 2015 Riverside?) and they had Saves The Day, Alkaline Trio, and New Found Glory when they had an "A" before their name.... you just can't find shows like that anymore... those were the days.

Big Choice is good. I wonder if anyone calls Face to Face emo.

The best blink song is called 'emo.' I have heard some people say HWM and Dililnger Four were some of the first emo bands and were heavily influenced by the music coming out of DC in some summer in the late 80's that was hardcore where you don't hit each other or something.

Now commercial pop-punk is sometimes called emo (like FoB and NFG), and like Say Anything and shit. Maybe it is fair to say Say Anything is no longer pop-punk, I am not really sure what it is.

[side note, Take this to your grave, dude ranch, sticks and stones, and is a real boy are all fucking incredible we-have-perfected-pop-punk-and-there-is-nowhere-to-go-but-down-af terwards albums]

A perfect Pop Punk album is "Leave Home"................none of the albums you listed are the same kind of music....whether you want to call it pop or whatever. Who cares what is considered 'emo'.....bands like Embrace, Rites of Spring, Moss Icon, Rain and One Last Wish are a couple of the absolutely amazing mid-80s bands from DC you mentioned, they were called "emotional" hardcore....not sure if the "emo" tage was thrown around, but who cares.

I fucking HATE the word "emo" I refuse to use it in most conversations. Today I see it applied to the all-style/no substance bands that the kids are going nuts over. Because I hate those bands as much as I hate that word.

Embrace, the hated, rites of spring and later to Boys Life, Christie front drive and the gravity records bands, some of which were polar opposites as far as their sounds were concerned but were all brought up in the same conversations. You can do that with today's cookie-cutter shit simply because they ALL sound the same. What made the older bands sound so great was the fact that 95% of them released raw recorded on a boombox shit. I never called it "emo" no matter the sound I always referred to it as punk or hardcore. I'll even pepper in post-hardcore for people who got into it in the eraly 90's.

Defineitely. I especially miss the early to mid-90's midwestern stuff. I was lucky enough spend a portion of my teenage years in Lincoln, NE and as a result had the opportunity to see so many amazing shows.

I agree, get the self-titled "best of" compilation. It spans all 3 vocalists and has 3 or 4 tracks from Allroy sez/saves/for prez/revenge, Percolater, Breaking things and Pummel. It doesn't have anything from the epitaph albums though. For that reason I would recommend picking up Mass Nerder too.

I'd start with; S/T or Reactionary then make sure you get Ignorance Is Bliss, just to see how talented this band is. 96-2000 is my fav era of f2f.
Trever's solo record is also top notch if you want a deep, somber, more electonic / 2008 version of f2f. November shows should be top notch, thank fuck they're playing again.
