What am I missing here....is this good? Weren't they on Victory or something years ago? I have never understood these guys and would get them confused with Riverboat Gamblers from time to time. 1+ Reply

Once Navel Gazing gets here I'm not going to shut up about how awesome the Gaslight Anthem show in San Antonio was. 5+ Replies

i dunno, river city has been one of the few bands i can think of to put a big tweak on their sound and have it work out really well. keepsake of luck was amazing and i've got pretty high hopes for this new record too.

I saw gaslight anthem last in San Antoniio. The opening acts (pioneers, polar bear club) did not really do it for me, but the TGA show was amazing. They played almost everything, except for "Wherefore art thou Elvis", and "Navasink banks" and...I am somewhat depressed that it seems they will not be playing "We're getting a divorce, you keep the diner" anymore, which is one of my favorite songs. I didn't get into the 59 sound as much as Sink or Swim until I saw this show. Every song off of 59 sound sounds WAY better live. Especially "back seat" that shit gave me chills. Now I hear the songs with a whole new appreciation. The studio recording was just too clean or something. Anyways, sorry to River City Rebels for completely ignoring the fact that this is their post. And I invite the obligatory "Why does everyone always post about show rest of comment 5+ Replies

New rule: No one say anything about the River City Rebels if you think Hate To Be Loved was their last album.

they have been slowly changing since religion, racism, and war. almost all of there stuff including that cd are pretty bad now that ive gotten older. i have to say, im starting to get into there newer stuff.

Fuck yeah. I am really excited for this new record. The rebels are one of the few bands that have consistently matured and grown from record to record. It has been so much fun watching them grow, and this tour is gonna be amazing.

i love this band so much and if they come back to canada, let them play nothing from their shitty glam-rock album.

I've been a huge fan of the band since Racism, Religion and War which, at the time, I thought was the greatest CD in the world.

Once such a great band. But they have really lost their way.
I really think they should just take a break, regroup, and then get back to their original sound...
Great guys, but their music is just so....boring now...
