Heavens (Alkaline Trio) talks next album

Heavens, which features Matt Skiba of Alkaline Trio and Joe Steinbrick of Thieves Like Us have an update on their future plans. Joe had this to say:

Matt's itching to do a new record. I've sent him a few instrumentals, he sang some ideas he had for them. Not really sure when we'll have the time to actually put an album together and record it but it would be fun to spend no more than two weeks doing it. I'm feeling a very stripped down vibe. So when it all happens it will probably come out on Epitaph with Vinyl Collective doing the wax.

The band's Epitaph debut, Patent Pending, was released in 2006.

Down the cheese on the lyrics a little and it would be great. Patent Pending was fantastic. I knew they would wind up doing more with Heaven's despite everything they said.

If you are really into the band, you will probably feel how I felt at the final Good Riddance show. Super excited before and during, then once the show is over... the realization of not seeing them live again will bum you out.

This is great news. Patent Pending was very fun. It was a great home to skeeb's lyrics.

That's great for Vinyl Collective, hope they can do some exclusive art this time. The last one was as bare-bones as it gets.

someone told me that alkaline trio have split but that they havent yet gone public but they suspect so because they have cancelled a load of shows. does anyone know if its true?

Patent Pending was solid, hopefully anything else from them would be the same. I like the idea of the stripped down sound, too, although I'm not sure Matt knows how to do that anymore...

I just listened to the first Heavens album for the first time in a long while today. It's not the best thing Skiba's ever done by a mile, but not the worst. I bet a follow up could be pretty good.

Though, I'd really like to here another Matt Skiba solo album. That first one was awesome!

Great news. Patent Pending was great. Didn't think it was awesome at first, but it really grew on me and I've listened to it quite a lot over the last 2 years. In fact it was one of the 5 CDs I had on shuffle this morning as I got ready for work.
