Fall Out Boy have contributed $50,000 to a campaign to fight Proposition 8, a ballot initiative facing California voters this November. The bill would change the California Constitution to eliminate the right of same-sex couples to marry in California. A new section would be added stating "only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California." The measure was submitted for the ballot by petitioners with the title "California Marriage Protection Act."
The band joins a number of people who have publicly condemned the proposition, including Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, Senator Barack Obama and celebrities like Brad Pitt and Steven Spielberg. Politics (144 comments)

good on them! it would be insane to take a step backward in banning same-sex marriages again... especially when it is only a small minority of reactionary morons who think it is necessary... it's nothing but bigotry. fuck 'em 2+ Replies

Yeah, thats nice of them... However, it seems like now that they have $50K to blow, they can afford to have some principals.

Golly. $50,000 to ensure that homos can get married in California. They should pay $50,000 to ensure that it rains in Seattle.

It's ridiculous that something passes and is celebrated and then the religion's have to freak the fuck out and try to reverse it a year later. WHY ARE THEY SO CONCERNED WITH EVERYONE BUT THEMSELVES? Maybe if they weren't so stiff and repressing and would just accept the change of times, then maybe they wouldn't get so upset and ludicrous when they find out their children are gay or atheist or pregnant or socialists. Worry about your own damn family values before you try to rip apart others. 3+ Replies

Thats fucked, theres nothing wrong with two people wanting to have the same rights as anyone else. But on a side note, why would you want to be included in an institution that doesnt want to include you? 2+ Replies
