Add Cocksparrer and the Buzzcocks to that list. BUT< have you listened to Tommy's stuff,backed by the Friggs or whatever they are called??? good stuff. Paul's new album is "mature" and all but its GOOD Paul Fucking Westerberg songs.AND he sold it for like 40 cents online! They sound cool enough to MAYBE pull it off. Its their life,but as a fan,Im willing to take the old Nestea plunge on some new material and live gigs,just because of how awesome it COULD be! But then again I like Eli Porter.

Not the original Soul Asylum drummer, the current drummer. Still good though, probably be bad-ass in a bar fight.

Is that why they palyed a high school prom for free and recorded the show for a flood relief benefit for the town that had the prom they played at? Is that why they still play bars outside of Minneapolis and major markets?

Michael Bland was also the drummer for quite a few of Paul's solo tours post Replacements.

The Dolls record was pretty good. Same can not be said for the Stooges.

Very true on both counts. Them Stooges shows though(especially here in Detroit) are fucking kick ass! Mike Watt rules and Iggy is in better shape than I am at literally twice my age AND drug consumption! The new Dolls line up aint bad either. Sylvain has never sounded better,plus Sam Yaffa! Hanoi Rocks rules over your mom!

Zen Arcade is pretty much the catalyst for the emo-core movement in DC. They were also the first band to come out of the hardcore scene and sign to a major label. Their contract was the basis for Sonic Youth's contract. Also, Black Francis of the Pixies wrote a personal ad asking for people to join a band that sounded "like Husker Du and Peter, Paul and Mary." That's some of the stuff, there's a lot of other stuff.

I read it mostly for Black Flag and Ian McKaye's stuff, but I did read the whole thing. I don't think I found Husker Du that interesting because I hadn't really listened to them yet. So I get that they're supposed to be really influentual... I'll check them out some more and keep that in mind as I listen.

the replacements. but it's like the beatles vs the stones, no matter which you prefer, you have to acknowledge that they're both amazing and two of the great rock bands of all time.

I feel different from others. I think Tim gets too 'all over the map' with poppy throw-away tracks. Let it Be is solid, concise, and has more depth without trying to chart new territory musically.

Actually, I think tommy didn't actually do Grandpa Boy. They did, however, do 2 songs for their greatest hits CD a couple years ago, as well as a couple of tracks for that animated bear movie.

Husker Du, because Bob's output has been more in-line with later era Husker and very consistant. It would also be a more passionate reconciliation.But I love's me some Replacemats though! Shit, I think both of 'em should play a reunion show together in Minneapolis and get the muthafuckin Suicide Commando's to open!!! Even Prince would be like DAAAAAAMN!
