Ted Leo cancels all dates

Ted Leo And The Pharmacists have cancelled all upcoming dates. Band leader Ted Leo had only this to say:

Tour has been canceled due to a personal emergency. I am sorry.

The group most recently released the Rapid Response EP, which benefits protesters who were arrested or hurt during the Republican National Convention in Minnesota.

Just saw them with Against Me! on Friday. The crowd didn't seem very into them. I think Ted Leo may have said something douchy about the openers, The Future of the Left (who got a much more energetic response out of the crowd).

Ted Leo crowds don't really move since many of them are indie rockers who are way too cool to dance, but in Jersey it didn't seem like anyone was into him, and just stood with their arms folded, I was bummed.

Haha, yeah. I just saw him a few weeks ago for the first time in DC and was surprised by that. I thought at least in DC people would be really into it. There was obviously a big following there for him too because a lot of people left before Against Me! came on.

On the contrary - I was at the show with like 10 people who had never even heard of Ted Leo before and they all really enjoyed the set. Perhaps his music just isn't as easy to 'mosh' to

I've seen Ted Leo 3 times and each time, you'd get a livelier crowd if you went to an old folks home.

Could it be his voice? When I saw him in Boston, he told the audience he was going to lose his voice during the performance. He ended up coughing and sputtering during a couple songs. Played the whole set like a trooper.

it was a decent opening set, and hearing "timorous me" was great, but really wish he played more off tyranny, or at least "bridges, squares" when he's here for once. I did have the sweet front and center pit area, at least.

I gotta agree on "bridges, squares," that's one of my favorites. I just wish Ted Leo would come to Vegas. He's probably the person I've been listening to the longest without getting to see live (not counting broken up bands or deceased people, of course)

I was actually going to road trip tomorrow to see him. It sucks that he canceled but I understand.

dammit its like i'm not supposed to see ted leo. last time he played a show in san francisco i won a pair of tickets, but i didn't get the email til half an hour before the doors opened, by which time i was at my friends house doing absolutely nothing.

The facts are somewhat wrong here -- Ted Leo's solo dates starting December 6th in Cambridge, MA are still on. Pitchfork had it updated on their site. Therefore, the dates below are still a go:

So sorry to hear. TL/Rx were great with AM! a few weeks ago in Orlando. Real fun, energetic set. First time catching him live, and I was definitely converted to a fan. I hope everything is ok for Ted and the band, and whatever situation they are having resolves itself.

Do yourselves a favor and check out their live set available on NPR.

Dude a couple of posts down said it's Roll the Tanks, a local band. They're Myspace confirms it. They're not a bad band, but they're going to have some shoes to fill tomorrow. I'm not too sure if Titus Andronicus is still going out on tour. I'd like to hope so.

Oddly enough, I gave away my ticket for the LA show yesterday. Ted Leo would have been the band on the bill I was going for, since public transportation doesn't really lend itself after 10:30 and I know Against Me! will play later than that.

Whatever happened, I sure hope it works out okay for him.
