Frenzal Rhomb guitarist joins Lagwagon for Australian tour

Lagwagon's Australian tour started with a little twist last night as immigration problems kept guitarist Chris Flippin from entering the country. The band was instead joined by Frenzal Rhomb's Lindsay McDougall, who will be playing with the band through the rest of the Australian tour. There is no word on whether Flippin will be with the band when they continue on to Japan.

Finally got my Thursday/Envy split in the mail today. What's the deal with a preorder coming 2 weeks after release. Fuck problems at the pressing plant. That's what I get for needing to have the superspecialedition on bronze vinyl.

Anyway, it is amazing. Thursday is probably the best band in the world right now. They got put through the Mainstream machine and came out alive and better than ever. I'm hoping they will become the U2 of my generation, except without the suckage. Their tracks just rule me. The Envy side really isn't as good as I was hoping, but maybe it's a grower. It's definitely not bad, just expected it to be mind-blowing.

And the t-shirt is so fucking nice!

I don't think they're gods, that's reserved for Dan Yemin and Bill Stevenson. That said, War, the Joshua Tree and Everything You Can't Leave Behind are all superb albums. Funny, I had this conversation with Dudley_Shale last night. U2 in general has an undeniable sense of melody.

i love U2's old stuff. A lot. What I'm saying is that'd be great if Thursday had that kind of longevity, with out turning into shit arena rock.

Scott Shiftlett played with Lagwagon for their Canadian tour this year. He's a bassist and knew all the songs pretty fucking good. He was the lead guitarist lol.

Hey dude, hearin ya on the Canberra scene. Its' pretty bad, I went to Gaslight Anthem at the Green room and was a bad turn out. Lagwagon kicked ass though the other night.

Fuck dude I was listening to "a man's not a camel" saturday too(2hour drive home from a wedding reception, while on speed). Fuck I wish they'd come back to montreal, havn't been here since they played with nofx ages ago. Sucks for Chris, be cool to see Lindsay play with Laggers though.

Linds did a pretty awesome job (Brisbane, sat night) considering it was such late notice. Might go see em again tomorrow night down at Coolie... possibly just to hear them play the start of 4 Non Blondes, "What's Up" again.

How I wish Frenzal Rhomb would come back to the States! I saw them in 2002 with NoFX and Mad Caddies. I left that show annihilated!
