Thursday: "Black Smoke"

With their new record in the can and ready for a February 17, 2009 release, Thursday have begun with the cryptic messages and other pre-album bits and pieces. To that end, the band is promising something for December 3rd, though it remains to be seen what that may be.

At the same time, the band has also posted a weird ambient collage on their myspace page titled "Black Smoke." The band is also headed to Canada later this month for a tour supporting Rise Against.

I always remember Geoff Rickly saying earlier this year that he wanted to put together a tour with Thursday, Converge, and Envy. I've been anxiously awaiting news on that ever since.

That being said, I'm really not the same person in real life. I'd probably enjoy you showing me good music, wouldn't have a problem with your leather jacket, and would enjoy your band and never say anything sexist about your singer or any lady (except 2 of my ex's). But this is the internet and we have some kind of rivalry, so I'll say whatever pisses you off. If we ever meet in real life, which could happen since your band really isn't bad at all and I'd like to see them, I'd hope you could take it all with a grain of salt, because if I eat my teeth, what will I eat sandwiches with for the rest of my life?

yeah, if you'd pulled that out you could have saved us a lot of trouble. It can be an ordeal having a girl in your band. There are always ass-grabbin' creepers and shows so we roll like a bunch of thugs when it comes to that shit. We are predisposed to fighting now and asking questions later.

I was more or less refering to the post-911 paranoia, when people said "something was going to happen on October 31st," and specially "stay out of the malls." While I didn't think about it, they being a 'mall' band makes it funnier. Thanks for pointing it out.

I believe that if there is some sort of ability to reflect on life after you've died, Hell is the realization that you have wasted your life on religion because we all die and rot just the same, Heaven is being at peace knowing you lived a good life for the sake of those you cared for because it's right, and not for the selfish desire to "save your soul from damnation."

It wasn't a bad set. A fair mix of old and new. It just felt way too short. If you could do me a huge favor and pick up one of the Chicago Flag trio shirts in a gril's size I would happily pay you for it, plus a little extra for yourself. My girlfriend's got stolen and we didn't notice until afetr we left the venue.
