Hi everyone,
I'm sure you've all been noticing the changes to the site as of late. We used to have a free server but it couldn't handle the traffic, so we had to upgrade. This involved the process of selling advertisments to help cover our expenses. The only thing is, the site keeps growing and growing. We think it's great that so many of you frequent the site, and that you tell all of your friends about it, but to be blunt, it's costing too damn much to keep the site up. The expenses are mounting, and we really have no other choice but to shut the site down unless we get a large amount of money to keep it running. Columbian Records [I think they meant Columbia, it must just be a typo in the contract they sent us] has offered us a considerable amount of money to purchase the domain of Punknews.org, and if we sold it to them, they would completely revamp it to further promote their growing stable of "punk-rock and similarly sounding artists" [so says the contract]. The final decision is up to Aubin, but it looks like the site might be gone for good. Thanks for the memories.
Aubin, Adam, Kip, Scott, and Hein
THIS JUST IN: Pitchfork ripped us off! Damn scenesters…
