Since the band put out a new album today, there has been a ton of news and to save time, we're condensing it into one story. First, the band will be appearing live on Fuse tonight at 9pm/8c. Their special, Fall Out Boy: Live from The Chicago Theatre has a trailer here.
The band has also provided a free download of the Lifetime track, "Turnpike Gates," recorded live and acoustic for free download. The song is available courtesy of Absolute Punk and can be downloaded here. The band had hoped to celebrate the release of their new album last night, with a free outdoor show in Washington Square Park in New York City, but neglected to get the proper permits. As a result, the popular group did one a capella version of a track before shutting down. Finally, the band will be live on David Letterman tonight. They'd better not be late. His voice is incredibly annoying on the Lifetime cover. Lifetime is just incredible.

I'm at work, so I can't download it...but did they actually cover Lifetime, or did they post an acoustic version of the song by Lifetime, since you know, they own the rights. I realize it's probably a cover, which means blood will be shed... 1+ Reply

I can almost see the light at the end of the tunnel of a long day of data entry/computer crap/staring at the screen mindlessly. If it wasn't for the good ol' iPod I'd be going crazy. What have you been listening to today? 2+ Replies

There is musically nothing wrong with this cover except that it's not good.

i love lifetime & fall out boy's first two albums but WHAT WAS THAT.
14theroad (December 16, 2008)
I clicked on the Lifetime link thinking it would be an acoustic version of the song by LIFETIME. Boy was I disappointed.
IanIsSuperRad (December 16, 2008)
Ok. I liked Take This To Your Grave. Hell, I loved that album. So because of that I still keep giving Fall Out Boy chances when they have new music come out. I downloaded their newest cd with the intent of giving it a fair chance. I got 5 1/2 songs in and couldn't take it anymore. It's just shit now. Oh well. I'll still throw their first album on from time to time.

they INTENTIONALLY raped and killed that lifetime song. that poor lifetime song, 11 years old, sexually assualted by their four part vocal harmonies and decapitated by their unimaginative acoustic reworkings of the guitar parts.

having first seen lifetime in 1995 or so, god knows my love for that band is quite deep rooted. i'm usually very annoyed when people thoroughly blow any cover, let alone something written/recorded by one of the bands that in many ways... changed the game for years to come.
that said... this cover isn't as terrible as i initially expected. the tempo wasn't tampered with too much and like it or not, that fella can sing. whether or not i enjoy his voice is a matter of personal preference. talent is not the same thing is like/dislike... some of you folks need to keep that in mind. for the record though, i am not a fan of the band, the new record is like an audible assault on everything true and good in this world, and all in all... i just don't care. back on track, the random four part harmony... though rather out of nowhere, i have no problem with it by any mea show rest of comment
