Thrice planning “Alchemy Index” box set

Thrice has unveiled plans for a limited edition vinyl box set edition of their recent four EP cycle, The Alchemy Index. Due February 17, 2009, the vinyl box set is limited to 3000 numbered copies and will feature The Alchemy Index: Volumes I & II: Fire & Water and The Alchemy Index: Volumes III & IV: Air & Earth pressed on four EPs.

Each of the 4 EP's will be pressed on 10" colored vinyl -the Fire EP is red, Water is blue, Earth is brown and Air is on clear vinyl. The discs will be inside a hand-bound hardcover book complete with lyrics, liner notes and commentary from the band.

Copies will start shipping at the end of January and early February to fans who order online. The vinyl will be in stores on or around February 17. To fans that previously ordered the package through Vinyl Collective, those copies will also ship at the end of January and early February.

So last night, it's around 3:30, I'm fast asleep, when suddenly the dog starts barking, really barking like someone is at the door. "The hell?!" I think (for not the last time before that night is over). I get up to check the door, look out the peephole and don't see anybody. My dog is going crazy though so I open the door, still no one. Suddenly I hear somebody whisper "Chris!"... And my younger brother's best friend's head peaks from around the corner of the building. I figure he must be in some kind of trouble so I go out and ask what's up. "Stop stop, I'm naked!" What the hell? so he covers himself up with his hands and sortof halfway comes into the light. He is indeed naked and proceeds to tell me the girl with him behind the wall is naked too. Apparently, he and she were at the apartment complex where he used to live getting busy in the pool. Somehow they manage to lock the keys in their car along with their clothes, phone, etc. After they finish their business (priorities after all) he panics and starts trying to break his car window with rocks, a broken light post, a 2x4, etc. This is in the middle of an apartment parking lot mind you, so no wonder, someone calls the cops to report a naked boy trying to break into cars in the parking lot. The cops come roaring into the place and he and the girl dive into the bushes, and proceed to sneak through the neighborhood all the way to my family's house (about a mile away) in the dead of night completely naked with cop cars everywhere. My brother is at his gf's house so I get them some clothes and drive them back to the car and by that time there is just one cop left and they go out and explain it to them and he helps them open the car door. Easily the strangest thing I have ever been party too.

it actually gets better, I don't know if she was hot. I ASSUMED this girl was his girlfriend who he's been going out with for like 3 or 4 years, and though I don't really know her I have met her once or twice. She isn't that hot so I never even bothered to sneak a peak. What I couldn't understand, though, was why she kept saying "I don't know who you are but thank you!" like a million times from the back seat of my car. Come to find out, this was some girl he just met at a gas station a week ago. Saw her in Radio Shack yesterday, took her to a bar or whatever and then the craziness happened. Don't know how he's going to explain the cracked window and everything to his girlfriend.

This sounds like a pretty cool idea, even if I'm not into the band.

Too bad that it's on Vagrant, which means it'll be pressed by Cobraside, which means bend over Abigail, here comes the gravy pipe right up your wallet!

Cobraside can suck it. They make double albums that have no business being doubles (Stay Positive and Good Mourning come to mind) and then charge out the fucking ass for them.

unveiled? I know people that ordered this last summer when it was first up for pre-order. Thrice was back and forth on their packaging and it got backburnered until now. Probably almost sold out on Vinyl Collective (where it is actually cheaper than Vagrant is selling it for).
