Brian Fallon: “Cold Cold Ground (Tom Waits)”

The Gaslight Anthem's Brian Fallon posted another new solo track. The latest, "Cold Cold Ground," is available at his MySpace page. The track is a cover of the Tom Waits's song from 1987's Franks Wild Years. That album also featured "Way Down in the Hole," which was the theme song for The Wire.

The Gaslight Anthem's 2008 album, The '59 Sound, was voted the best album of 2008 by Punknews.org readers.

I learned this song on guitar last night. He desn't sound bad, when people cover Tom Waits songs it usually sounds really forced

Most of the songs off that album are just pieces of other songs put together.
Like he was thinking, "I don't know what to write, so I'll just use this from a song I know."

Ok, I am no Springsteen fan by any means, and I've only heard a couple of his songs, but I really don't get the comparisons, especially from the guy above who says every Gaslight song is stolen.

As a Springsteen I can agree with you very little of the music sounds like Springsteen. The way he creates little rock n roll mythology in his songs is similar in style to Springsteen but the music itself is far from what he actually sounds like.
