Media: F*cked Up stream "Year of the Rat," perform with Jello Biafra:

At a show in San Francisco last week, Toronto's Fucked Up were joined on stage by ex Dead Kennedys frontman Jello Biafra for a rendition of the Ramones classic "Blitzkrieg Bop". You can view a video of the performance by clicking read more below.

Fucked Up were recently nominated for a Juno award and have announced plans to release a new 12-inch single, titled The Year of the Rat on What's Your Rupture. A stream of that song can be found here.

I would think they could dig a little deeper than "Blitzkrieg Bop," considering how eclectic both the band and Jello are. Nonetheless, crazy ass pairing!

1. If I had the chance to have Jello Biaffra on stage with my band, I would've taken ten minutes to learn a DK song.

2. There are sooooooooooooo many other amazing Ramones songs to cover. Why does every band ever choose this one?

I don't know, it's kind of like "har, har heres a song you wrote" and it's just assuming, at least to me, that he'd want to sing something like that. If he had the huge wanton desire, wouldn't he have a band of his own up their?

It's kind of like meeting a stand up comedian, and doing his jokes to him, I think. At least with this song, it's a standard song that anyone who's had any time in the trenches at a punk show is most likely familiar with, and they can all sing along, and it's neutral to both Fucked Up and Jello.

i see where you're coming from, but I've seen him perform DK songs with other bands. so he can't be that dead-set against it.

Yeah, I suppose thats true.

I guess it's a personal preference though, in this situation, to see something completely neutral played. I'd have been more stoked if I were there, because I can't stand DK or anything he's done before, but he seems pretty bad ass, and I mean..he's fucking Jello Biafra. How are you not gonna be a little stoked, even in the slightest?

I saw Jello sing "Too Drunk To Fuck" with NOFX a few years ago. It was very awesome.

Someone told me to listen to Some Girls because I liked some grindcore.

They are not grindcore, but damn, they're actually pretty cool.

They are definitely not grind. They have some blast beats but definitely not grind. Great band, really bummed they didn't stay together longer. Phenomenal live but the kids in the audience were so weird; they seemed like they were afraid of pissing off Wes or Justin. After every song ended there'd be five seconds of polite applause then TOTAL silence.

I love the man, but I'm not afraid of him. Obviously God has allowed me the knowledge to know I could win in a fist fight because I have two.

Some Girls were fucking amazing. So is every band that Eisold has touched (and gotten proper credit for) and I wish they would've stuck around a bit longer. Is he working on anything else now?

It kind of seems like he's trying to go the Mark McCoy route and have his Virgin MegaWhore, only difference is that VMW was actually good.

This is a huge waste of his vocals. A completely huge, and boring waste of his talent, song writing and vocals.

I wish he'd just go the Shevchuk route, and have something like None More Black pop up.

no, i dunno, it's different from anything i usually listen to, but since it was wes, i gave it a free pass until i decided i liked it. it's all incredibly catchy and upbeat; i imagine i would have fun doing coke to this music. i was extra happy when my ex-girlfriend hated it, too.

subway is only worth one thing: high school/college job. frickin awesome job for a student but TERRIBLE food these days. plus when you leave the store you smell like weird bread for a whole day.

growing up in LA and smoking a lot of weed at the time, i was a huge Sublime fan.

i got over it.

i don't hate on them in the same way a lot of people do, i just don't think they were all that great. its like jam band music for punks. not to mention 40 Oz to Freedom is essentially just a covers album.

I never liked Nirvana, and I kind of think they were, as a band, on the way out anyway. They needed that Kurt suicide to really nail home their place in pop culture history.

I wonder too, about Sublime. I wasn't the biggest fan, but I got a kick out of that kind of band doing what they were doing. Half the lyrics he said were basically a middle finger to everything, and he got away with it because of the sweet harmonies.

But again, I think that band would've also just ran out of gas. Either the mainstream would've sucked them dry, or Nowell's drug problem would've caused a rift in the band that would've lead to their ultimate demise and they would've broken up without attaining that 'legacy'.
