Compton, California's Pour Habit have signed to Fat Wreck Chords. The band will begin by re-releasing their 2007 full length, Suiticide this summer.

b. is it just me, or have a lot of labels seemed to be on a little bit of a signing spree lately? sideonedummy seemed to get gaslight, fake problems, and broadway calls more or less directly after one another, and fat got these guys, teenage bottlerocket and (quite a bit earlier, i know) star fucking hipsters...whats going on?

1. I still love the music
2. It would be better to see bands like these get huge than the latest emo-screamo-whatever-fad
3. To see Mr.Brett fail at trying to re-sign Ten Foot Pole, Pulley and Guttermouth....

I don't think this is some kind of precursor for things to come, they're just one band.

But despite my broadened musical tastes and discoveries since then, I've never stopped liking Pulley or Osker or Ten Foot Pole and the like, so if the 90s skatepunk sound made any sort of resurgence I'm not gonna complain

98? man, blaze was great, timing is everything was great, invitation to tragedy was great, matters was great, survive was great, twas hell said former boy was great, blackhawks over los angeles was great, handheld was great, asado was great, this is a standoff is great, hell, even rufio was great minus the last album and most of the vocals, wilhelm scream is great, domestic tranquility and social justise was geat. all this shit still is great.

I didn't say there hasn't been a ton of good shit since then, I just mean that 94-98 that shit was everywhere, whereas now you have to look for it a little more. Obviously Lagwagon and Pulley and Bigwig are still around making records, but by 2000 Epitaph started to stray and most of the 90s FAT skatepunk bands had broken up, so it wasn't as abundant as it once was.

a band was covered a little while ago on here Lipona who released a free EP I'd call them skate punk which I don't generally like but they were doing interesting stuff with it and I enjoyed the EP. I'm not someone that dislikes something based on genre but these guys seem really average and run of the mill.

I don't think any label should be desperate because there are enough bands out there that there is always someone out there to sign if you look. I think TBR was a good signing because they are an established and hard working band that will get out and support their albums.

Yeah, I was hoping that album would be their American Idiot, the album that proved we could take them seriously as a band again and that it wasn't just shitty joke songs any more. I don't think Green Day were ever as terrible as 1999-present Offspring, but you know what I mean. I'd love if a band could pick up where Smash/Ixnay left off, or maybe the good half of Americana.

I love orgcore as much as the next dude; but this stuff sounds pretty great. Nothing ground breaking, but neither are most of the band's that people seem to place on pedestals here, or any other site for that matter. I think the 90s sound is old enough that a revival wouldn't be too bad.

Pour Habit kicks ass! This is the first time I've ever heard them. The vocals are awesome, and their mix of ska and hardcore is very interesting. And THE SPEED! This is some very compelling hardcore. Although they sound similar to other bands, every aspect of their sound seems to rise above the mediocrity that plagues this genre of punk. It may be a throwback to an older sound, but what bands don't do that? There seems to be a modern flare in there, as well. They kick the shit out of Pennywise, even though that doesn't mean much. Humorous band name, too.
