Rise Against to release limited seven-inch on Fat Wreck Chords

Rise Against have announced plans to release a limited edition seven inch via Fat Wreck Chords, due out this summer. Rise Against vocalist, Tim McIlrath had this to say about the project:

So we lost a bet to Fat Mike, and along with our first born children, he asked for an exclusive seven inch with two new, unreleased songs to be released by Fat Wreck. We surrendered the last two unreleased songs from the Appeal To Reason sessions; "Grammatizator" and "Voice Of Dissent."

Pre-orders begin on May 5th through the Fat site, and on May 12 it will be available in stores.

If this sounds like it would belong on Fat, I'd be stoked. But all indicators say it will sound like Appeal to Reason, an album to which I remain unmotivated to listen.

I decided to listen to it when I saw this article. It remains unremarkable. I like "The Dirt Whispered" despite the fact that it is one of their more poppy songs. Just something about it hits me. Hero of War is beyond terrible.

Appeal to Reason = meh.

they did what all bands do (besides the Replacements) when they get as big as they can not selling out...sell out to get bigger. i know "sell out" is overused but if you were in 88 Fingers Louie and then you make a record like this one then you're a sell out.

On muzak's modern rock station at party city, they play that song with the video where tim runs around a grocery store screaming as sweatshop children make shoes.

In other words, they're HUGE.

Rancid are opening for them. They're getting massive radio play on alternative rock stations all over the US.
They're playing multiple nights at 2500-3000 venues, and arenas and amphitheaters in other places.

The first song on Appreal To Reason is one of the greatest punk-hardcore songs I've ever heard. Then *sound of a plane crashing *. The rest of the album is pure fucking garbage.

These guys are so dissapointing. Unraveling is probably my favorite debut album by any band. Now................

The part that bothers me the most is they act like Siren Song is their first album. They play almost nothing off the first two anymore. I've got a question for anyone who saw them recently. How does the rare track off Unraveling or RPM go over with the "new" breed of RA fans? I envision Alive and Well or Black Masks and Gasoline being played to thousands of blank stares?

When i saw them on the Alk3 tour they played Everchanging,Heaven Knows,Like The Angel,and Halfway There. They went over really well actually, with a decent amount of people singing each one. Everchanging was my favorite song of the night.
