Thrice continue to blog extensively as they work on their next album. The latest posting confirms that the band has completed some songs and also done some interviews about their "writing and recording process."

if anything everything from artist in the ambulance and before is boring. it all sounds exactly the same. you probably need to broaden your horizons in terms of what you listen to

I don't know about that, but I like everything they've put out anyway. I used to give a whole heap of shit when bands changed dramatically, but I just don't care anymore, if I like it I'll still listen.

What I love most about this band is how they've got albums that appeal to just about all of my "punk/rock" tastes on my musical spectrum. I've actually been listening to "The Illusion of Safety" a lot lately, but before it was almost strictly The Alchemy Index albums and their live album.

Alchemy Index sucked; too many songs sounded forced, like they felt they had to write a "fire" song just to fill up the fire disc

Just upgraded to the newer version of iTunes last night, and I'm pretty impressed with the Genius Playlist feature. For the most part, the playlist it makes are pretty good.

Quicksand's unreleased LP is pretty great. It combines the more rockin parts of Rival Schools with a bit of the weirdness that Quicksand was more associated with. I wish Walter had finished it--could've been really great.

I'm easily the most stoked person for this. Everything they have done has been amazing. Except for a few songs here and there. But fuck, I love this band.

Everyone calls this band pretentious. I went back and listened to illusion of safety last week, and there is quite a bit of experimental parts on that record. More that artist, for sure. As much as i loved artist, it sounded like the album the label wanted. I bet if thrice had more hands on it, there would have been a smother transition into vheissu, which is probably my fav album as a whole by them. I loved alchemy index too, but at times some of the songs felt like vheissu rejects.
with eddie name dropping karate and mercury program as influences for this groove infested record, i am totally excited for it!
