Tours: Yesterday’s Ring / Bridge & Tunnel (Canada)

Montreal's Yesterday's Ring (ex-The Sainte Catherines) have announced a string of tour dates in support of their upcoming Suburban Home release Diamonds In The Ditch. Following shows in their home province of Quebec, the band will hit the road this summer with Bridge and Tunnel for a slate of dates through Ontario.

I think the music is okay, but as soon as the vocals kick in I go "nope!" and turn the song off.

I never got it and never had any real interest in them until I saw them live about a month ago. After seeing them play it all just kind of clicked and made sense. I listen to them a lot now.

It took me listening to Thousandaires to be able to get into East/West (I liked the 7" before it, but didn't like E/W at first). Now I completely disagree with the "bad vocals" and "better suited as backup" statements. That guy is friggin' great. Did you see their Pink Couch Session? I don't know what else to say but to keep trying... and that I don't think the vocals are too far off from anything else we all listen to.

Saying ex-Sainte Catherines kinda implies they've broken up doesn't it? Is there something I don't know?

I used to listen to Yesterday's Ring a bit and have always been a fan of The Sainte Catherines, but I've kind of grown tired of the country-tinged-folk-punk stuff. I like "acoustic punk" (Against Me!'s EP, Fear Like Us, etc.) but anything that's too country, too folk or too silly I really can't take any more of... except Defiance, Ohio.

Buuuut Bridge and Tunnel put out one of my favourite albums of '08 (and there was TONS of competition) and Orphan Choir is my favourite new Ontarionian band.

So I'll definitely be checking out the Toronto date in June... despite it being at exam time. Will I see anyone there?
