Kevin Lyman plans Country Music tour

According to a Billboard report, Warped Tour founder Kevin Lyman's next tour will be a big departure from Warped, Rockstar Mayhem and Taste of Chaos. The veteran promoter's next project will be a multi-act, multi-stage, sponsor-driven tour focused on country music.

The first version of the yet-to-be-named tour will go out in summer 2010. "We want to customize what we've been able to do with Warped [in the punk genre], and last year with Mayhem in metal," Lyman tells Billboard.biz. "We invested a lot of time with the metal labels before we put that tour into motion, and we've put a lot of time into this [new] project."

AWESOME! speaking of country music, my friend is the promoter for the GAYBALLS 2009 AUSTRALIA tour and he has to book acoomadation for both performers and he told me that tom gayballs is happy to stay in 2 star hotel but chuck gayballs DEMANDED 5 star hotels in each town.

If this is anything like Warped Tour is to punk I expect a lot of booths for pig greasing and spurs and acts ranging from Big and Rich to Kid Rock.

My wife listens to Big and Rick (thankfully not Kid Rock). They are really only one of the new-age pop country acts that I can remotely respect. If you get past the bullshit like "Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy" nonsense, their stuff is far more interesting than most of what passes for country these days (not that it says much). Plus, they are not your typical racist flag-waving cowboys, they seem like halfway decent people.

The whole "Cowboy Troy" black cowboy thing is fucking stupid, but I don't fault them for trying something a little different. Problem is, the guys "rhymes" are worse than Vanilla Ice, thus dispelling the myth that all black people can rap.

isn't this what state fairs are for? or is this going to have a more alt-country feel to it? i think that's way better in small clubs than outside though.

Is anyone else here into these guys?

They're one of those bands that should be huge in the punk world, but they spent most fo their time only playing in southern California and releasing obscure 7"s that are now out of print.

I borrowed 8 X 12 from a friend in like 2001. I still listen to it to this day.

It's a shame they never got even as "big" as the Briefs.

Kevin Lyman is just getting free money with this one. Not a huge surprise after the addition of Shooter Jennings this year. Meh, it will be Lyman's return to Montana and it will sell the fuck out. I wonder if he'll throw Nick 13 on there with his new country solo project/the slow Tiger Army songs.

Kevin Lyman is fucking up large in 2009.
First he thinks it's a solid move to have Brokencyde (a band that makes underoath look like talented, rational people) on Warped for the entirety of the tour, and now this.
