MySpace to air Green Day performance in May, more reviews

MySpace has announced plans for a The List concert featuring Green Day. Set for Tuesday, May 19th, the and will perform at Webster Hall for a small group and the performance will be broadcast on MySpace shortly after the live event.

I didn't think St. Jimmy and Whatsername were "force-fed" at all. I loved every part of American Idiot. I just saw the thread in the Government Warning story about The Descendents. Do you people really think that the "you fucking gay" line should be changed when covering "I'm Not a Loser."

In Jon Ginoli from Pansy Division's book, he says that Milo changed "gay" to "hetero" on that line when PD went to see them play the one time.

If a band uses homophobic slurs already, then covers a song with some lines that could be taken out of context, would make me pretty pissed off about it. Covering that song alone with the original lyrics wouldn't bother me, it's the intention that seems to be behind it that bothers me.

Yeah and the tickets for those earlier dates are about to go / are already on-sale, with still no supporting acts announced. That's kind of obnoxious.

Originally I was kind of assuming Against Me! would do the whole tour, but I guess not. As long as it's not, like, Silversun Pickups I don't really care who it is. I'd like to see Ted Leo, but that will never happen.

Yeah, I still got there in time to catch everything though. It's 1919 E. Passyunk in South Philly so you know for future shows, Witch Hunt's record release is gonna be there. Not sure if they have anything else lined up, but I hope they keep having shows. Not a bad place, my only complaint was the bar was overpriced except PBR (Bud bottles were $3.50 even) and they put the bar as far from the stage as possible at an all ages show. So you had to hang out right at the bar if you wanted to drink, couldn't walk around anywhere.

I'm pretty sure the new one will be a mixture of Life Won't Wait and Indestructible, it sounds like they're bringing in a little more ska and other instruments like harmonica, but I'm sure it will have a lot of the punk-poppiness of Indestructible

I highly recommend the Aggrolites. Saw them at the Quest with the Aquabats! a few years back and at Warped Tour. One of the best live bands out there.

They played some legit setlists at the CA shows, a few surprises from 39/Smooth and Kerplunk!. I will probably go to this, but I would rather go to the secret Bowery show, problem is I have no idea when that's going on sale and if I get tickets to this, like hell I'm paying to see them two nights in a row. Sadly though I think because it's for some Myspace bullshit I just they're just going to play the new record, Amercian Idiot, Jesus of Suburbia, Longview, Basketcase, Brain Stew/Jaded, Good Riddance and sayonara while the Bowery show gets a legit setlist. Is that so much to ask to hear Going to Pasalacqua, Who Wrote Holden Caulfield? and At The Library? THATS ALL I WANT

"Green Day" and "Dry Ice" are my favorites of their 39/smooth releases. Dry ice has a pretty cute solo.

That's the thing, I think the Bowery show will only go on sale on that day, and like I said I'd rather have a definitie show to go to at Webster Hall for that myspace bullshit then wait out for the Bowery show and probably not get in or, worst, go to MSG, which I will not do.

I definitely agree with you, MSG is a big no-no.

Bowery or Webster, I'd be ok with either. But I agree Bowery would be ultimately preferable, good luck getting tickets.

i've found it to be a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" situation with old bands playing old material. you don't like their new stuff so much, you go see them live a few times and come home each time saying "god dammit i wish they played ________."

then they have a show where they DO play the old stuff, and it feels forced watching 40 year olds play 20 year old songs. it's fucked, just find a new band.

my most extreme example: going to see strung out's suburban teenage wasteland blues 10-year anniversary show. sucked.

But dude, I got Dookie when it came out when I was fucking six years old and then immediately bought 39/Smooth and Kerplunk, it's such a nostalgia thing for me. Plus they're all still only in their mid/late 30s, them playing old shit while I'm drunk... couldn’t get any better. Way different than seeing a band like the Buzzcocks or something.

I've never actually listened to Warning, I pretty much stopped after Nimrod, is it really that good? I remember hearing a couple songs off of it that I really disliked so I never bothered.

admittedly alot of my grudge against nimrod is that i think time of your life was one of the most overplayed annoying songs of all times.

but my major problem with it was the length. 17 songs on an album is too fucking much for anyone.

I care about tuna but only insofar as I fucking hate it and if someone is eating it within smelling distance I have to violently choke back my gag reflex because otherwise I'd puke everywhere and the only thing (marginally) grosser than tuna is lots of puke. When someone orders a tuna sandwich in front of me at Subway I have to clench my teeth and look away because the force of my subsequent projectile vomiting as they use that goddamn ice cream scoop to carve out three balls of sticky grey fish guts would render the sneezeguard useless and they'd be picking bits of my breakfast out of the lettuce for days.
