Millencolin: "Örebro"

The Swedish soccer team, Örebro, recently chose Millencolin to record the team's new official song.

The band recorded the song "Örebro" which can now be heard on a Swedish TV station's website, which can be found here.

What's wrong with this? They have always been huge soccer fans. As this team is from their hometown, I'm guessing it is their favorite team. If my favorite team asked me to write them a song, I'd be honored. What's the problem?

what the eff is wrong with that, dude?? seriously, if you arent into any sports, perhaps you dont get it. but, if you have a fave hometown team and they asked their longtime local band to write a song, you would turn it down, claiming, "we dont need to do that to sell records."

Besides the fact that it's probably their favorite team like others have mentioned, Millencolin are HUGE in Sweden.

Uh well.. I'm actually swedish so I _do_ understand the context of the song..

There's nothing wrong with supporting your sports team, it's just that this song sounds nothing like anything Millencolin ever made. It's the equalient of Dropkick Murphys making a tune for Boston Bruins and not using bagpipes or any irish influence.

And the thing is that there probably weren't any "censors" either, Millencolins sound is rooted and accepted, especially in that area..

Also, it's a known fact that their last record and tours _fucking bombed_, and i mean ___bombed___. In fact, they've fallen so low that they can actually be booked for 10 grand these days, and that's a significant drop seeing as they used to be able to do a 5-day tour and play to 1000-1500 people per night.. They've never really been that gigantic, but most people into anything rock-related kn

Well, not great, but at least better than most of Machine 15. I love Millencolin I'm not a big fan of the direction they are going.

like, the hold steady did a cover of "take me out to the ballgame" for the twins not long ago.

i say no, if they truly support a team or club. i'll allow it.

It's considered selling out when you clearly don't care about your music and your only intention what-so-ever is to become a millionaire. Punk bands who sign to major labels, in my opinion, are not sell outs. Bands who allow songs to be used in commercials or sporting events are not sell outs. They are just getting paid for their work, which is fine.

Apply people's logic on selling out to normal people...if a man ask's his boss for a raise for the same work he's already doing, is he a sell out?

I didn't mean to rant, but I really hate the term "sell out." It's a very 16-year-old way of thinking.

Agreed. Except for political bands that rant from a soapbox all the time. Bands like Propagandhi, Anti-Flag, etc... are held to a different standard, and rightfully so.

I don't think the team is called Orebro, that's the town Millencolin is from. The club is OSK I believe. One of my favorite Millencolin is about their local hockey club, I think it's "Entrance To Rudebrook"

You're both right and wrong, The team is called Örebro SK which is abbreviated to ÖSK. SK stands for Sports Club.
