$5 Cover creator talks about show documenting Memphis music scene

BoingBoing recently spoke to director Craig Brewer (Hustle and Flow , Black Snake Moan ) about his new project, $5 Cover. The show attempts to provide a multimedia-look at the current music scene in Memphis, TN. Lucero was among the acts involved with the show and frontman Ben Nichols is one of the co-stars in the semi-fictional series.

I thought Black Snake Moan was pretty good. Watched for a partially nekkid Ricci, stayed for a pretty decent movie.

Now, I like having some of these mindless shows on when working to function as white noise, but i catched the first episode of this show and hoooly fuck..

I don't understand why anyone would ever watch The Hills, but this was even worse than that.

fuck craig brewer and this show.

none of it is realistic and does NOT portray the memphis music scene. i can't believe out of all the great musicians in this town they would choose some bullshit like Muck Sticky to represent our city to the world. fuck this bullshit.
