Tours: Mad Caddies (Europe)

Mad Caddies have announced more festival dates in August. The band also posted a quick update:

So as many of you have seen we have added many tour dates and we still have many more to add. We promise US dates are coming any day now. We will be playing a hometown Santa Barbara concert soon. Thats all we have for now.

Funny how these guys somehow manage to draw so many in Europe and The UK, headlining all the huge festivals and here in the states, they couldn't get Slims in SF half full which holds under 400 people.

I think they are bigger in SoCal though

European music and people are much more diverse and open-minded. The Mad Caddies are a very experimental and genre-bending act, and that confuses most Americans who are, for the most part, spoonfed their entertainment and expect their favorite bands to keep making the same songs over and over again. If the Mad Caddies (or any ska or "ska" band for that matter) doesn't sound like Reel Big Fish, then American teenagers won't even give it the faintest of looks.

I did say "for the most part". Myself born and raised in California, I can say with experience that today, most Americans wouldn't know how to handle good music if it came with an instruction booklet.

So here I am on campus, waiting for traffic to die down so I can go back to the apt. I took me a 40 minutes to get to campus today when it should only be a 10 minute trip. Fucking construction and old fucks that live here....

where do you educate yourself at? i used to go to school in troy ny, and the commute would be anywhere between 15 minutes and an hour and a half. it was a bitch figuring out when i should leave to get on time, sometimes i'd be an hour early, or miss the class completely.

Moorhead, MN (yes, it's an actual place). It's across the river from Fargo, ND and I live on the other side of town, so I pretty much take to the interstate. But now they're doing construction, which sucks because everybody goes to Moorhead in the morning and leave at the same time at night.

Once a week, there is always an accident somewhere near the exit into town, so traffic stops. It was bad a month ago with the flood when they built a dike on the exit making it only one lane. Fucking annoying...

oh man, floods are shitty. the worst accident i saw on my way to school was when an 18 wheeler thought it was shorter than it actually was, and smashed into the overhead bridge. shit slid out and covered the whole damn road. but at least they didn't need to build a dyke anywhere. lolz.

*siiiiiiiiiigh* I no longer drive a car that can play CD's. My Chevy Cavalier has a tape deck, but it doesn't work, so no CD's. The radio antenna is missing (maybe it has to do with the previous owner and his goats) so it sucks getting any stations.

They don't tour the U.S. enough. Most importantly, they hardly ever tour the midwest. One of my favorite shows was seeing them in Cincinatti. So fun.
