Slayer announce "World Painted Blood"

Slayer have set World Painted Blood as the title of their next album expected later this summer via American Recordings. The album was produced by Greg Fidelman and will include the album's title track and "Psychopathy Red" (both of which are Jeff Hanneman-penned tunes), the latter of which was made available as a limited-edition seven-inch vinyl disc on April 18, 2009 as part of the third annual Record Store Day.

The band will be co-headlining four shows in Canada later this month and shows will also include Machine Head, Suicide Silence. Those shows will be followed by a co-headlining tour with Marilyn Manson for the five-week Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival, set to kick off July 10 in Sacramento, California reports Blabbermouth.

I love that album, but Justice varies a bit more with the tempo, which is probably why I like it more. Plus the riffs are just badass.

However,

The Call of Ktulu > To Live Is To Die (both are fantastic though)

I heard it on a Zero skate video back in the day, and always thought it was rad. Then I heard their other stuff and couldn't believe it was the same band. Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax, Pantera, all have made at least one timeless record... Slayer, eh, not so much. It's just kinda there...

I'm with ya. I used to love all those you listed (especially Anthrax and Megadeath), but never could get into Slayer. I don't hate them, it's just not for me.

...Or "Just not your taste" would have been more appropriate... they fuckin kicks ass! or so i think and a lot of other people, but nothing's meant to please everybody... and when it does please a good proportion of people, thats when the whinners in here starts complaining about this or that other band being sellout

Fail Reign in Blood is better than everything those bands (sans Metallica) ever produced. Hell Metallica only wrote 2 good albums.

Umm....Raining Blood is clearly their BEST song, and far from being the only good one. But, you're entitled to your opinion. As ridiculous as it may seem to me.

Seasons in the Abyss - great record.
God hates us all - terrible record.
Christ Illusion - another great record.

If this record features Dave Lombardo on the drums, I really think it will be another great record.

Yeah, I thought it looked horrid. The trailer, and title, and terrible CG made it look like a turd....and I'm a huge Sam Raimi fan (and not just the evil dead movies). But I've heard nothing but great things. I need to get around to watching Up before I see anything else, though.

Ummm, I'm pretty sure it did come out. Records still came out that day. Records coming out after with sketchy names got changed and delayed, but I'm pretty positive it DID come out, and it was 1 of the better selling records that week while other artists like Maria Carrey had terrible first weeks. Lots of writers made comments about the irony of one of the only records that sold well that week was called "God Hates Us All."

Might want to point out the 4 shows in Canada they are co-headlining are with Megadeth. Figure, if you're going to point out it's a co-headline, and list the support, you might as well put the other headliner, too.

I know I'm gonna get loads of shit for this.....so there's no need to jump at this........but, when it comes to mainstream metal acts, I actually prefer Slipknot to Slayer......go ahead and rip me to shreds, it's just my opinion.

I'm just more amazed that you even like Slipknot at all. That's the truly baffeling part. Don't get me wrong, I used to love them in my early High School days. But then I kinda grew up. Limp Bizkit's "$3 Bill, Ya'll" is a huge guilty pleasure of mine though so I guess I'm in a similar boat as you.

Why? everyone tries to lump Slipknot in with the whole "nul-metal" limp bizkit crowd. Out of all of their albums they had 2 songs that had any kind of "rap" to them. They're way heavier and violent compared to any of their nul metal counterparts.

Has anyone even heard Mate.Kill.Repeat? the whole album is pure death metal.

They get put in with that crowd because of other associations with nu-metal besides rapping. Not every "nu-metal" band rapped. KoRn really didn't rap at all either. For one, they have the attitude of an angsty 13 year old. You know....angry for no real reason. Come on, "People=Shit"? They don't have any point to their anger. Second, they use way too many gimicks like extra drummers and masks for, again, no reason beyond drawing attention to ones self. It's just like those nu-metal kids who wear those chain/strap filled tent pants that look like dresses on each leg. No point beyond garnering negative attention just so they can say "fuck you" in return. My point is that Its that 13 year old attitude/cheese factor that gets them lumped in with nu-metal...and deservedly so.

its not official yet, but this album is the last one required by their contract with american recording. just in case its their final tour, i absolutely have to see that show, lets just hope they're gonna stop in quebec city
