Cobra Starship have posted the new video for "Good Girls Go Bad" which features Leighton Meester of Gossip Girl. The clip notably contains a product placement for Trojan condoms.

i'm sorry, i know that this is the age-old argument on punknews, but even with this band's loose connections to a once fun mid-sized pop punk band ten years ago, there is no reason this video should be displayed here. i got 20 seconds in before realizing the video was playing and it wasn't a commercial for an alcoholic energy drink.

i'd never listened to cobra starship before, and now that i have, well, i can't understand as to why it's being featured.

I know this has been voiced, but I just have to reiterate...why in the HELL would this be posted on this website? There is nothing punk about this music. I do not mean to be a music snob, and I'm not complaining solely about Cobra Starship (if some people like it, great...doesn't bother me). I just don't think it should be supported by Punknews, a website dedicated to rock music, when it is clearly pop. I wouldn't even consider it pop-punk.

Song is awful. But in terms of "polished" recordings, this is produced perfectly. The quality is incredible.

It sounds slick because it's 98% production and 2% band. The only band thing in there is a looped octave riff in the chorus and a sampled powerchord. Synth sounds are presets or samples too, nothing special going on.
Sampled drums and distorted synths can sound very powerful if done right. This is so-so, but it's quite slick and was probably done at a low cost.

OK. I know I'll be hated for this, but I like some pop music and I think this song is really fun. At least it beats the hell out of the Jonas Brothers or Hannah Montana.
That being said, it is not punk and I wouldn't think that it has any business on this site.
