Slayer talks "World Painted Blood"

Slayer recently spoke to Billboard about their forthcoming album, World Painted Blood, and what can be expected from the new material. The group finished 13 tracks -- six by King, seven by fellow guitarist Jeff Hanneman -- 11 of which will appear on the album.

I like when Jeff writes as much as he did for this record. When you have one guy doing most of the writing you only get one perspective. A lot of Jeff's stuff has a very punky vibe this time; the stuff I write sounds thrashy but with a hint of punk, and when Jeff writes the stuff is more punk with a hint of thrash. It works together well.

Song titles include "Beauty Through Order," "Unit 731," "Playing with Dolls," "Public Display of Dismemberment," "Americon" and the title track.

i don't get this. we already have publicly funded police. that's what state taxes pay for. money gets allocated to towns depending on how much crime/how big the population is. i thought that's how it worked?

or are they talking about some kind of municipal security force that has jurisdiction across the country?

no facetiousness here. i seriously don't get what this debate is about. also, what extracheesepizza said. we already have national law enforcement organizations, albeit leaning more towards investigative tasks. are they talking about actual dudes patrolling?

what the fuck is this "privatized police forces that we pay for out of our own pockets" bullshit that they're talking about? a lot of cops might be crooked, but as far as i know, no police force is blatantly out to turn a profit.

I don't know about other cities, but you have to pay Philly police for certain events. For example, there almost wasn't a Mummer's Parade (HUGE deal here) because the city told the Mummer's they'd have to pay the city for police presence, city workers for cleanup, etc.

well i'm sure for security detail for special events and stuff that goes out of the way of normal police work, you'll probably have to pay them extra or overtime.

i don't know how legit it is, but i know boston cops sometimes serve as security "off the clock" and paid privately for certain functions/activities.
