Media: Animal Collective: "Summertime Clothes"

Animal Collective have posted the second single from their 2009 album, Merriweather Post Pavilion. The song will be released on a 12-inch single and digital download next week and will feature the song plus three remixes named Dâm-Funk, L..D. and Zomby's Analog Lego.

same here. to me they sum up the kind of pitchforkism that is self indulgent bullshit obscuring some stuff that otherwise might be good song writing.

they only thing worse then this band are its fans. if you say you dont like it, they treat you like you just dont understand it.

if i wanted to listen to someone play the same three chords over and over id listen to punk music, at least they write songs i can relate to.

all my friends go ape shit over this band. i've never heard anything besides that My Girls song, which i thought was pretty good, but didn't persuade me to listen buy anything from them. Whats a good one to start with?

The new album is a great starting point especially this track,Out of all their releases it contains the most actual songs and is very accessible. Here Comes the Indian captures their craziness way more though.

this band is like the flaming lips devoid of any talent.

this is seriously one of those "emperor has no clothes" bands that tons of people seem to be jerking off to, and because i don't like it, i must obviously be a plebeian troglodyte who can't handle "challenging music."

as someone who enjoys his fair share of free jazz and noise-rock, there's a difference between "challenging" and "self indulgent wankery." and animal collective cross that line doing 120 in a rocket-propelled, monkey navigated sleigh pulled by methed-out clydesdales.

I don't understand why people think this some uptight arthouse band. This is pure pop to me. The songs are catchy and I like to play them when driving home from work. Mind you I'm talking about everything from Feels onward, not the early noise stuff.

Pretentious is a term thrown around way to much. Stop caring about what people think and enjoy what you like.

What an incredible A side to the single. The original song is perfect and the Dam-Funk remix is really good. Unfortunately Side B suffers considerably; the tracks are boring and repetitive, especially after listening to the first two mixes.
