Moneen detail "The World I Want to Leave Behind"

Canada's Moneen have revealed the track listing for their forthcoming album. The record is titled The World I Want to Leave Behind and is due out September 15, 2009. The Brampton-based quartet recorded the twelve tracks in January at Rattlebox Studios in Toronto with Brian Moncarz and Grammy award-winning David Bottrill (Tool, Silverchair, Placebo, Muse) at the producer's helm.

I actually like this album title, unlike basically every one of the others that have been announced lately.

I know it sounds kinda emo if you think of it as suicide, but to me "leaving the world behind" would mean to go on to something bigger and better. Or if the world it's referring to is the destructive, cancer-like cities and all the capitalism nonsense, to leave it behind means to go live in the country, the mountains or the middle of the ocean. Or something an astronaut would do, and those guys are cool.

I read it over and realized I forgot to type that part despite thinking of it as I typed. I wanted to clarify that that was more like what I meant. Right now in my life I'm trying to figure out the best way of "leaving this world behind" and going and living in the wild, but without becoming bored. It's like an impossible challenge. So this album title kinda related to that.

It's not the internet we're discussing here, it's your "beef" with me. The internet is just the mode of communication. If your girlfriend called you up on the phone and asked why you cheated on her, you wouldn't say "why are you being so serious? It's just a phone call!".

So stoked for this. I just listened to The Red Tree all the way through for the first time in probably a couple years, and it was even better than I remembered. If they were going to include a song off the recent EP, it really should've been "Madness" over "Hold That Sound". The latter is kind of boring. Then again maybe they'll do a 2.0 version like they've done with other songs in the past.

They recorded them in January, and 9 months later it gets released? Kinda bummed that 3 of the tracks are already on the Hold That Sound EP.
