Media: Bedouin Soundclash vs. Bad Brains: "Stay Close To Me @ 12:59"

Bedouin Soundclash have posted a mash up with legendary punk / reggae act Bad Brains. "Stay Close To Me @ 12:59" combines "Stay Close To Me," the b-side from Bad Brains' classic "Pay To Cum" single with Bedouin's recent single "12:59 (Lullaby)." You can stream it at MySpace.

Bad Brains bassist Darryl Jenifer produced Bedouin Soundclash's latest full length Street Gospels.

It's probably old news here, but I looked at it for the first time today, and that site's pretty funny. I bet my family has some good ones back at my parents house.

I appreciate this band's desire to expand musically into more worldly stuff, but I think a lot of Street Gospels was kind of filler. Their good songs are really good though. I like listening to Jay's solo stuff (just various demo songs) because he's great at folk ballads. I still doubt they can top Santa Monica.

I don't really care for the vocals from Bedouin... they just almost seem a little too hippy for me.
That said and after listening to their other songs, suffice to say I don't care for them much.
Bad Brains, on the other hand, is awesome! I'm gonna go listen to The Youth Are Getting Restless

Have you listened to Sounding A Mosaic? I ask because if you've only tried Street Gospels then I could understand (even though I love that album). Anyway, if you don't like em, at least you tried.

Only on track 4, but the new American Steel is catchier than AIDS. Lint described it as Jagged Thoughts and Destroy Their Future having a baby that loved Alkaline Trio and that is spot fucking on and every bit as awesome as it sounds. Probably even better than the new Cobra Skulls, and I love the shit out of American Rubicon. This is the greatest year for punk music since 2006.

Not huge on this mash-up, but Bedouin Soundclash are one of my current favorite bands. I think they missed the mark a little with this, though, as the vocals don't work as well when slowed down.
