Death Before Dishonor: "Remember"

Death Before Dishonor have posted the second new song from their forthcoming album on Bridge Nine Records. The long-running hardcore band will release Better Ways to Die on July 28, 2009. They released Count Me In in 2007.

Check out "Remember" on their myspace page.

The band will be on the 10 for $10 tour this summer.

I liked the Motorhead song, I really hoped the record would be like that because we need some of that stuff since Bronx pussied out.

However, this new one makes me forget about the Motorhead song. Yuck. Sounds like something strike anywhere would've done 7 years ago but with that atrocious boston vocal accent.

I'm all about diversity, but between Set Your Goal's awkward metalcore song with that dude from Turmoil, and now this is going to be on the same record as the motorhead song, things just sound too unfocused.

Yeah, that syg track made me write them off too.

I liked the last record. Nothing amazing, but there were alot of fun riffs and fun sing along stuff on it and that kind of stuff can be perfect if it's not based on repetition and has a fast flow, which that record definently had.

The new one has a different style on every song. There's one song that rivals Mutiny in the catchy department but the rest is just boring.

To make it worse for DBD, they always sneak in two or so Dropkick Murphy's C-Sides.

Disjointed music is fine if it's within the songs, but seperating it just makes it seem like a halfassed mixtape.

My biggest issue is when people want to throw "curve balls" but they don't integrate it with their other songs. "Okay guys, that was our metalcore song, now we're gunna play pop punk again"

Sorry if I restated what you just said, but that's how much it bothers me.

Though, I think Refused are one of the few who pulled it off on Shape.

Refused were smart and had class. I don't think the same can be said for many heavy hardcore bands after them.

Refused aren't a guilty pleasure! Their first album and early demos suck, but I'll be damned if Fanning the Flames and Shape Of aren't great albums, even though I will admit I couldn't get into Shape Of until I heard Fanning the Flames. I like good heavy hardcore. Not that many bands, but I listen to Rorschach, Ringworm, Born Against, Unbroken, Turmoil, and Coalesce. As far as meathead bands go, I will listen to Breakdown and Merauder even sometimes if the mood hits me, but most tough guy/metalcore shit just makes me think of if death metal bands couldn't write good songs.

Oh no! I never meant Refused was a guilty pleasure... though, I still find it interesitng that you like them. I can't get into fanning the flames. Turmoil and Coalesce are pretty unexpected.

We have both been using the wrong name for that Refused album. I can't believe I didn't catch it.

Anyway, I have a couple notes:

1. The last Unbroken EP is a masterpiece
2. To gimmeamuseum: Mouthpiece are NOT meathead hardcore. Hell, besides the dumbass antics of their douchey singer, neither are Floorpunch, really.

Ooh, I know that question wasn't for me, but I still love meathead hardcore. I'm talking really meathead. Not even late 80's boston stuff, but early 90's NYHC stuff and even later Jersey/PA stuff like Floorpunch, Mouthpiece etc.

Biggest guilty pleasure: Madball. I've said this before, you CAN'T be a guitar player and not enjoy playing madball riffs. It's a failsafe way to have a smile on your face.

Oh yeah, and let's not even start talking about stuff like six ft ditch and all that newer british stuff. It's super meathead hardcore with 95% and straight up rapping. Jackets and bandanas on stage at every gig and every breakdown has 6 following breakdowns.

Might be boring as in super easy, but when you crank up the amp and play with some friends it's always instant gorilla walks and couchdives.

Yeah, havn't played as much as I used to in the last 2-3 years but I've been playing half my life too.

That album has been put in the background as I have been obsessed with the new American Steel.

I did listen to it 3 times though, and it is quite good.
My only complaint is, I dont have the patience for a 17 song album.
