Social Distortion to record in December or January

Social Distortion is apparently planning to enter the studio in December of this year or early 2010. Frontman Mike Ness spoke to Russia's Tarakany and revealed the plans.

they already have a bunch of great sounding unreleased songs like I Can't Run No More, Bakersfield, Diamond In The Rough and Don't Keep Me Hangin' On and all that stuff was written between 1994 and 2006 he must have enough material plus anything since then.

Have they never put out a B-Sides album? I've always thought it was odd that Reel Big Fish never did since they've been around for ever, but Social D's been around for even longer.

they don't have that much studio b-sides but there is a single song off a vinyl only comp from the late 80's or early 90's I don't have.

I made my own comp with all the demos, b-sides, alternate versions and live unreleased stuff, that is rather complete though.

also most of their b-sides are from their major label years and they don't have the rights to re-release that stuff I believe. that is why the re-recorded some of their stuff for the greatest hits and likely why the greatest had so few songs.

cool link but nope. I think the limited vinyl only status of the comp is what makes it a hard comeby if anyone that has it isn't dead from an overdose I get the feeling they aren't concerned with ripping their vinyl and sharing it on the interwebs

it was once listed in Social D's wikipedia discography but since then compilation appearances have all been removed it seems. I think I also found a photo someone once took of the comp LP on a Social D fansite.

it was probably my favorite initially, but i think at some point i've thought each album was the best. at the end of the day i still don't know, but i know somewhere between heaven and hell was my least favorite for a while, and became my favorite over time. though the mainliner collection has always been better than mommy's little monster with regards to the early stuff.

I always found Prison Bound to be their overall weakest, it felt like a record where he was trying to find his footing again musically.

I can see your point, but it has some really great tracks on there, which is why it is one of my favourites. My top SD records seem to change with the seasons. White Light is a winter record for me, where as Prision Bound and the ST are summer records, which is why they are getting love now.

Agreed. I love Social Distortion, but at this point I don't believe Ness has it in him.

On the other hand, Nothington's new one is going to be great.

Social Distortion are one of my all-time favourite bands, but yeah, I don't really have that much faith in a new SD record. Nothington, on the other hand, is going to be great.

I don't know, Sex, Love, and Rock'n'Roll was a great album. I don't know if the new one will measure up, but I haven't seen any signs of Mike Ness losing his songwriting skills.

Social Distortion to record in December or January of 2006/2007. Then they will put it off for for three years. And will probably push the release of the album even further away.

I'm kinda surprised Mike Ness has never release another solo record. The last two were good, and seeing how popular country fused punk has become, I have always thought another one would come before another Social Distortion disc.

Seen them back in 95 and it was the shit.

The same recycled tunes(instrumental-wise) put out since 1978 however, is NOT.

Ness's lyrics are awesome, the music is crap

Personally, I'm more interested in good lyrical songs as opposed to complex riffs and shitty lyrics.

They're complacent in where they are and there's nothing wrong with that.

Not everyone can evolve on each record as say AFI

If they keep this up, Ness will be 70 before their next album. But if he keeps pounding back those krispy cream's, i doubt he'll live that long anyways.

Still, i'm excited for the music at least, their last studio album was brilliant.
