Owen to release "New Leaves"

Mike Kinsella, also known as Owen, has announced his next solo album, New Leaves. The record is due out September 22, 2009. A new song from the album can be streamed here.

Mike will support the record with a few Chicago shows.

i just checked out straighten things out.. the vocals are a bit to typical for me, but i love the guitar playing, thanks for the recommendation. i'm gonna give it a few listens to see if it grows on me.

I'm still afraid to take the time to go listen to too many of the side projects, so here are the bands I know in order of how much I like them:

Cap'n Jazz > Owls > American Football > Make Believe

This will be making it on my top ten for sure. I fucking love Sundowner (Chris is my favorite song writer of all time), Chuckie boy, Tim Barry, etc... but I can honestly say there is not another solo artist out there as candid as Mike.

Go see him live, and you'll see what I am talking about.
