New York Times reviews Souls, Lifetime show

The Gray Lady has posted a review of the Bouncing Souls recent anniversary performance at Webster Hall last Thursday night. The newspaper talked about some notable moments in the evening including:

During "Lean on Sheena," one of the Bouncing Souls' more agitated numbers, a few muscular young men toward the back of the crowd hoisted one of their friends, upright in his wheelchair, and thrust him forward. He rode the crowd, dozens of hands reaching upward to grip the tires, until he was deposited onstage, prompting the band's bass player, Bryan Kienlen, to exult, "That's Jersey right there for you!"

BTW, I just got back from Safeway, and paid $4.13 for 1 a small onion, a bell pepper, and 3 slices of provolone cheese from the deli.

the bouncing souls have always been pretty boring every time i've seen them. which granted hasn't been much but, i can't say i'd pay to see 'em again.

This show was a VERY good show. Beer is way too expensive at Webster Hall though.

Yeah, no shit. I think for the Gaslight show it was a dollar more: 8-bucks, 9 with tip. Fuck that place.

That sucks. If I beer (especially draft) is over 5 dollars, I don't tip.
I went to Rock the Bells at Fiddlers' Green in Denver last year and beers were $9. We opted for the tallboys for $11 and I could only afford 4 of them.

standard in new york is $1 a drink tip no matter what. if you don't, you'll probably end up waiting an extra 10 minutes for your next drink.

I always tip at least $1 in bars per drink because usually beers are under $5. Even if a beer is $5 I'll tip a dollar. My 'no-tipping over $5 rule' is only for beer though - usually at sporting events and concerts like the rock the bells. I'll tip for mixed drinks that cost over $5. If those places feel they need to charge $6.50 for a draft beer, they should be paying their employees enough where they shouldn't need to rely on tips. I am usually a good tipper in general though.

there used to be a kid in LA in the late '90s that would be at EVERY show circling around the pit in his wheelchair, beating the shit out of people and letting people beat the shit out of him. he was awesome.

It was pretty scary the second time the dude in the wheelchair crowd-surfed, because he got separated from his chair. Greg had to grab him and put him in his chair on stage.

I was at both nights in NYC. They were both fucking excellent shows, the second night was probably one of the best NYC punk shows I've ever been to.

Big deal. When I saw Dillinger Four Paddy made the crowd lift this dude and his wheelchair up on stage and Paddy sat on his lap for a whole song and then had him stay on stage for the rest of the show.

the souls and lifetime in philly were great. bouncing souls even played quotes from our favorite 80's movies! dan yemins strap kept breaking, but lifetime still sounded awesome.

i disagree with lifetime sounding "awesome" ari seemed to be going through the motions even forgetting words and kinda mumbleing through some songs but none the less seein lifetime is always a good time.... seeing dan off to the side of the stage singing along to quik check girl possibly made my nite

I have to admit I wasn't the biggest Souls fan after seeing them some time ago but after seeing them at this show I like them a lot more.

that was a really fun show. i've been a lifetime fan for about ten years now and i still can't get over the fact that i actually get to SEE them now! the wheelchair dude crowd surfing was maybe the highlight of the souls set. he got a huge cheer from the crowd.
