To celebrate their 14th anniversary, Suburban Home Records is giving away free digital copies of albums on the label. The list of choices includes albums from Austin Lucas, Cory Branan, Jon Snodgrass, Drag The River, Ghost Buffalo, In The Red, Joey Cape, Jon Snodgrass, Josh Small, Jr. Juggernaut, Kay Kay and His Weathered Underground, Lagrecia, Laymen Terms, Love Me Destroyer, Mike Hale, Ninja Gun, Scott Reynolds and The Steaming Beast, Stereotyperider, The Fairlanes, The Gamits, The Playing Favorites, The Revenge, The Takers, Tim Barry, Two Cow Garage, Useless ID and Yesterday's Ring.

Do yourselves a favor.... click that link, then have them send you the LeGracia album. Jason from Kid Dynamite, and None More Black. Sounds like a Jason fronted, classic rock inspired Jawbreaker. One of the most criminally underrated records of the last few years.

Never hard feelings man. If you Like LeGracia, check out a band from the East Coast called Deathkiller. The shitty reason that I draw the parallels in my head are (and yes, the dumbest reasons for assimilating bands-) they are another three-piece, with a female member, making pretty aggressively driving music. It's the old guitarist for Hatebreed (please, don't let that slow down your checking them out!) and his wife. Unbelievable record, although much more akin to the Kid Dynamite stuff, than LeGracia.

Why do I need Suburban Home's permission to download these digital albums for free? Its called a "p2p file sharing client" and if I wanted to, I'd get them there whenever I want. If I like it, then I'll buy the CD or LP.

Everyband except maybe stereotype rider cause I've never heard them doesn't sound like Hot Water Music. In the Red hardly sounds like Hot Water music. Wow. Very not good comparison, yo. HWM is easily one of the most influenctial band coming from their time period, but these bands are far from that sound to me.

Really, In The Red is Mike Hale's band right? Sounded sorta like something Chuck Ragan would do, musically and vocally. Of course I could be mistaken and thinking of another band. I'd look them up but my work computer doesn't have speakers.

And while I readily admit not having checked out most of these bands due to severe apathy, I *have* listened to a compilation that I got from my girlfriend and put on my iPod and there seemed to be a heavy dose of HWM influence in most of the songs, but with more *shudder* country. Now like you said, they were a very influential band, but I still reserve the right to be annoyed by their imitators who don't do it nearly as well as the originals.
