The trailer and first episode has been posted for Oblivion: The Series, a 22-minute episodic series following the exploits of a group of counter-culture types, set in the fictional city of Holwenstall. The show was created by no-budget filmmaker Mike Cuenca and is a spin-off of his first feature film, Scenes from Oblivion, in which many of the starring characters make their first appearance.
The series is a satirical and sincere portrayal of an alternative lifestyle, blending slapstick humor, absurdism, music and coming of age melodrama to analyze the interlocking lives of its fourteen main protagonists.
Shit really is hilarious. I had no idea there were so many new ones.
" inevitably all skins begin to save up their hard earned money to convert their wardrobe over to all of the latest rockabilly gear as part of his skinhead retirement plan. be sure to ditch that #1 crop trimmer for some pomade, that pompadour is going to need some work! "
Well do you know anyone else making a show gear toward the punk scene today?
Here's an idea, since all you kids spout about DIY ethics, then why don't you get all your friends together, write a show and send it out on the internet yourself. That's what this guy did, and he's clearly way more punk rock than you'll ever be.
Am I the only person that doesn't hang out with only 'punks' or what have you? In my experience, it kind of ruins it if you have to always weed out the uncools. But that's just me.
Also, the first two minutes felt like a DeGrassi episode. But worse. So I stopped
i have a couple friends who listen to the same music as me... most do not. and i wouldnt consider myself a punk or anything, despite going to more shows than most "punks"
I haven't known anyone who listened to the same music as me since I moved to Nashville five years ago. All of my friends are, for lack of a better phrase, 'music illiterate' or into hipster indie shit. Actually, I'm the uncool one in my circle of friends.
I live in the Belmont neighborhood and I go to Vandy. I actually grew up here, but was dragged away as teenager before coming back for school. Love the town, hate the music.
I only have one friend who i have really similar musical tastes with, other then that, i don't really hang out with a lot of people who have very similar musical tastes.
You only stopped after watching two minutes of it? So you're making judgments based on that alone? You sound ignorant, why don't you let the whole thing load and watch it in it's entirety before making retarded comments.
Show sucks, the terrible acting takes me out of it. It's like they're too aware of the fact that they're acting so the delivery of the dialogue comes off as forced and unnatural. The chick playing Darla especially.
So instead of supporting a show that was made in the scene for the scene with people in the scene, you're gonna watch a corporate network program geared towards douchebags?
Well I guess you're part of their target demographic if that's the case, because you certainly don't sound punk rock.
How did you find this website again? Nevermind, I don't want to keep you from your douchbag show. Don't forget your lotion and paper towels.
I hear a lot of people on here saying that the show sucks, I think that's just typical of young, naive, narrow-minded and myopic punk kids who reject anything that doesn't fit within their limited parameters of what "Punk" is to them.
I for one ain't punk, I'm a skinhead, and I loved the fact that the show used skins and didn't make them look like nazis. They were full on trads and I liked that a lot(Especially when they gave that Vinny guy a boot party). But I think it represented everyone in every subculture properly. The whole cast isn't punk, Cliff's a good example of that, so is Louise, who's a rockabilly. Truth is, this show actually works, and it certainly isn't as bad as Suburbia was. Ironically, those who bitch and hate on the show being terrible are the very ones who could probably quote Suburbia at the drop of a hat, and those kids couldn't act to sa

I think it's pretty sad really, all you have to do is complain and talk shit about a show that was done with no-budget using a good amount of people who aren't trained actors and maybe even shot at locations without proper licensing, resulting in fines if they were ever stopped by the cops. Honestly, you can't get anymore punk rock than that. I praise them all for making an effort to entertain you kids who must've actually liked it, but think it's more punk rock to call it "Stupid" instead.
I think all of you need to shut the fuck up and try to appreciate the fact that it's not coming from MTV or a corporate suit trying to make a profit off the scene. Save your hate for that and not other punks who aren't as lazy as all of you.
this seems kinda cool.
im gonna watch the first episode now.
